I believe we will see the rates out of California rise as the Carb issue really hits home in 2014. The question is....With so many operators refusing to run California, will the rates in the midwest tumble because of added capacity?

    Unknown!

California has not been a major player for me for several years. Guys/companies that base their revenue on loads in and out of CA will be hurting for sure.
I know several guys with paid-for rigs that live in CA, and their all wondering what to do...move to another state, or buy another truck?

Yeah, I understand. My truck is a 2004 and my debate is in buying a newer truck to run California or just simply staying out of that state. We haul alot of military loads and during the summer we stay pretty busy running between California and the eastern states. The big thing with me is that I hate to have a state dictate to me as to how to run my business, however, I can also see where we could profit from the decreased competition after 2014.

In the last year (12 months) I have hauled 3 loads into CA, & 1 load out. None in to/out of WA, or OR. I live in Arizona. I don't need California and all their B/S!
    Boycott California!

When their freight sits at the docks or rots in the fields, then maybe they will get easier to deal with! I wouldn't hold my breath tho.
CA, WA, OR, and all the newengland states are off my list of places I'll go, and have been for awhile. I'm doing fine without them.

edit; my truck is an 04 as well and I'll be darned if I'll buy a newer truck or renovete this one, for a state that costs too much to operate in, in the 1st. place....screw-em! I too haul ALOT of military freight coast-to-coast (sorta) and NEVER go to California, Oregon, or Washington.

    Just don't go there!
