I doubt every one is a perfect .004 all the way around. Are they measuring with the spacer plate installed or from the top of the liner to the deck and adding liner flange thickness? Did second shop pull liners or just measure liner portrusion. Just curious to see what the deck looked like.Deck must be level. They can check with long staight egde and feeler gages. I have seen small pieces of trash get under liners when overhauled. That stuff has got to be CLEAN when put together. Also I have had head bolts stretch to a point they will not hold the proper torque. Theads have to be clean and moly paste on theads and washers. Sounds like liner portrusion problem but did not blow in the same spot. Could be head bolts but I would want to know exact measurements on all liners in four different spots on each liner.Good luck!

I've. never had a cat block decked. I've cut counter bores into deck and then placed shims under liners to bring them back up but never cut the entire deck. I guess you would have to have a special spacer plate. Did they do this?

I don't. guess you would have to have to a special spacer plate since the liner flange would be the same.

Wouldn't think you would need one unless you took quite a bit off.

    Did they counterbore all holes?

How much did they cut the deck? I was just curious if there was enough threads in the block.
