CARB checking DPFs?

They are giving the little guy an extra year, but sounds to me like he is saying we cant afford to run California. I dont have a dog in this fight because I don't do California. By the way this article has been edited, if I can find the original I'll post it.

No fleets involved in any way.

I drop MT Cans and P/U trans-loads from the ports in LA and Oakland.....

Since '10.....To gain access a Non-Designated Biz had to have a CARB compliant rig....No exceptions....

Like I said...Some here are either Designated Bizzes (DBE's...WBE's...MBE's....HOBE's) that can either file for extensions allowing them to run pre EPA '07 rigs until 2020 or....They can qualify for Grants and /or low interest loans from SBA funding.....
Or they are not Designated Bizzes and MUST BE COMPLIANT to include Single Pony O/O's.....

 

And how does my marital state affect CARB?

 

OK, so you are single, driving for Crete and don't understand why are real owner-operators screwed with CARB?
Let me explain it to you. When you have family and you truck, the problem is balance between being home with them and making enough money when you are on the road to afford not driving - it's a battle where there is no place and time for sitting in truckstops like you do and there is no money to throw away on stupid devices because it costs your precious hometime to buy it. Thats why people who know how to make it in this business always drive old but solid, perfectly up kept equipment which was paid for long before you could spell "truck". It's not just 20 grands we have to spend on the filter, anyone who is serious about this job have this kinda money, it takes few weeks to make it. Problem is, this money belong to wife and kids - its for vacations, for schools, for good, healthy food etc.

It is not government money, they didn't make it. You will never get it if you single - but I wish you enjoy your status before it will make you sick and depressed. Trucking only make sense if you do it for someone else, someone who you love and you can't love yourself enough. Soon, you will be fed up - then you start family and.... ups... "honey we broke"

The tragedy of our times is there is so many people to whom what I wrote "has no merit". Remember, without love and family you lose. It just a matter of time
