I sent Basic a resume and never heard anything back-
Do these companies actually hire anyone 50 or is it all younger?

Is there any company out there in the oil patch that will hire a seasoned driver if they dont have experience with a vac or salt water hauling. Plenty of experience with end dump and bellys and truck and pup as well as heavy haul. Thanks for any and all replys. Buck70

Absolutely they'll hire you. Training you is pretty simple.

Go talk to them in person and have your resume with you. Most of these companies prefer you to be there standing in front of them

    Oldyankee,

I work with plenty of guys over fifty. Just like the younger guys, be in decent shape. You're picking up 25-30 pound hoses and such.

But no, it's not exclusively a young man's world.

Yeah I think your right, about standing in front of them. I responded to a key energy job, there response was basically thanks for applying but no thanks at this time. And I have 6 years off road exp. and 1 million miles on road. I,m 46 years old though, but in pretty good shape can dunk a basketball yet. I,m trying to get a tanker job from San Antonio to the south, I like hummid weather. A spot like Corpus Christi would be perfect. I think I would loose my hazmat, that I just renewed by moving to Texas, I might have a problem with my chevy van passing inspection, it,s a little rusty ok there,s a few holes in the body. I painted over the rust holes, it don,t look too bad. Anyone know if a vehicle with rust holes will pass the Texas vehicle inspection ? Thanks The van runs great would hate to sell it, I just replaced the alternator and a temp sensor, outside it was 4 degrees. The van gets 29mpg on the highway, there,s a few performance bolt ons to get that, 95 g20 van:biggrin_255:.

The last co. was a small tanker outfit out of Indiana, I asked them what there csa score was they said 24. Sounded like a good old boy, so I believed him like an idiot. After being there for while I checked there csa #, it was 63 priority for dot inspection on a few different months, yeah not so good. I,m plan on being in the oil field for 5 years at least, in 09 I talked with some N.D co.s the wages where around 20.00 per hour. I made that in 95 working on a horizontal rig, off road driving also. I thought the wages would go up to 30 plus an hr, but there not. So we have to deal with it, still better than any driving job going down the black top. I sent you a PM message with my phone #. We can work together and maybe get relocation money or a higher starting wage. Being that they get 2 expienced drivers, that have off road expience and a ton of mechanical knowledge. You have off road exp dude, you live in brown co. haha and I,m sure you,ve been on a frozen lake. Trust me off rd trucking is no different, I drove trucks off rd in 45 states and Canada.
