Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been a while since I have been on here. Hope we get a bunch of rain soon or I will be parking my hopper and getting into another type of hauling again. Still a lot of wheat in the elevators down here and the large elevators are full so not much moving. With the wheat crop for next year looking bad they think the wheat price is going way up so they are just sitting on it. Not much fertilizer moving either and what is moving is cheap. I have been moving a little frac sand for a customer in my hopper from the rail yards but it isn't a full time gig. So I may have to hit the road with my flatbed or hook to a reefer if something doesn't give on the hopper freight.
My experince on the load boards for hoppers is "Bulk Loads Know" doesn't have the postings that "Hoploads" has but they are also $50 a month. I have got on both sites before and you see the same companies posting so if you get on them right down the contacts then and keep in touch with them. Their is a lot of trucks sitting around so it is going to get cheap again.wheathauler, dairyman and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -

bullhaulerswife, rookietrucker and RW. Thank this. -
Wow, I'd like to know how that happened, too.

Guess metal fatigue or really overloaded. Looks like a Wilson trailer they're usually stout...seems like hoppers usually break in the middle.
d o g Thanks this. -
Yeah, I've owned a couple of Wilson hoppers and a few of their pots and I always thought they were the best made trailers out there. I've had over 90k payload on some 78" side Wilsons before and never had any trouble. You do have to kind of ease along, though - LOL.
That pic almost looks as if somebody had tied to the axles and jerked them out from under the load. -
Does look like that doesn't it. I know some farmers who take some very heavy loads to the ethanol plants. One I go to has speed bumps set up, pain in the rear to go over them. I'm guessing some super truckers couldn't slow down inside the plants.
bullhaulerswife Thanks this.
