I agree with you in part. Over time, anyone with volume will be using services like LSCS (the NLM purchase). While O/O's want to discount the role that brokers play on the backend, the qualifying and monitoring of carriers is a significant role. I can see why independents don't feel that any of this provides value. Because most brokers do nothing more than checking to see if authority is active. Now they may sell they are doing more and customers really do want more.

Down side for independents as this model becomes more the norm is that at present LS, Active, CarrierPoint, etc are not approving companies with less than 10 trucks and really want more. Only reason we got approved for some of the accounts we have is because we have a great record with LS and have taken the time to be present the way larger carriers would at the relevant meetings.

How is the qualifying and monitoring of carriers a significant role ? Nearly anyone qualifies to haul for Landstar, and checking insurance or scores takes a few clicks or a phone call. Where is the value ? You chuckleheads keep saying it, but you aren't proving it. If Landstar is paying a bunch of people to recheck CSA scores several times a day, that is ineffecient.

Besides the argument was NOT whether brokers are needed or not. The argument was whether it's possible to do business without them. LSAgent should pay attention, because this would be an example of two different things. See, your argument that it's risky and bad business to ship without a broker is condescending and just plain wrong. Shippers do it everyday, many of whom have great relationships with O/O's and small carriers and receive the quality of service you could never provide. See, that is two different things.

Now, LandStar checking CSA data or me or the shipper checking CSA data. That is the same thing, get it ? One is same, one is different, I know you can do it if you try.

In what city and state do you operate? I am interested to work with the shippers directly also.

ok here we go a broker chiming in trying to act like we need brokers cause he dont wanna lose his cash cow brokers are nothing but crooks they all are the take all our profits for doing very little as compared to what we do and in these rates they give us a lot is left out that causes the driver to have to eat like tolls more weight to the truck should mean higher rate but it doesn't more weight means more fuel also means higher tolls as well non of that is factored into the rate after all the broker doesnt care if he puts you out of business because there are more carieres to take your place once you exit. brokers are part of the reason rates are so low the other part of the reason is carriers taking these low rates ive been looking at the boards and noticed loads going as low as $1 a mile that is just outright criminal we take all the risk we pay all the costs everyones in our pocket including uncle sam we have to give op our lives be away from our family for weeks even months at a time only spending 2 days at home when we are home plus we have to handle life on the road and take care of business and deal with problems at home too plus the stress on the road and we havent even gotten to money yet truck repairs etc so why dont these brokers think we deserve to make more money for the work we do we need to completely eliminate the broker cause when a broker decides to not pay us what is owed they do and there is nothing we can do about it they are allowed to go out of business not pay its drivers and open up under a new mc that also shows how criminal they really are.
