What's the inverter policy at Swift?
-
guys call me crazy but i actually miss swift. not that this new place is bad but i just dont feel as comfortable as i did there. hope you all are doing well
fr8monkey and scottied67 Thank this. -
Well...if you didnt burn any bridges...then come back..
-
i didnt knowingly burn any bridges i mean i gave my two week notice and have nohting but good things to say about them. i would probably lean towards a lease if i went back because i feel that i want the option to choose a load or take a day off if i need or want one. plus i really like being able to have the freedom to say no. i know that i obviously have a payment to make and all that but i want the freedom. i know its not all roses either but i feel that im smart enough that i could make it work. any advice? or am i just freakin crazy lol

That's OK ... crazy helps.

Not approved for company trucks.
Although many of us have small (150-400W) inverters that plug into the 12V socket.
Some people have said to hide them when you go to the shop, but I have never had a problem with mine being out in the open.
No matter which inverter you get the ouput will only be 150W through a 12V plug, so plan your devices accordingly.Palace37 Thanks this. -
Otay Mesa, CA.
Finally got that sim class out of the way, then a load here - a bunch of bread heading to Mexico.
Pretty crowded at the terminal, and with Swift trucks lining both sides of the street.
I got just about the last spot at the Pilot with my bobtail - the last spot at the end of a row that would have to be blindsided into.
That little Chevron just up the road has plenty of truck parking left, though. -
Those are the main reasons i decided to lease.....if so u wont regret it to lease....just sayin'
-
I avoid leasing because...
too much paper work.
I just want to drive and make a living.
Well, other stories of how the miles drop off when you get near the end of the lease - to force you into a new lease before paying off the truck, or out all together.
Or people that simply have no head for running a business (like me), going out because they went broke.
I'll stick with the company life for now. It does me fine.
The only thing they have a gripe with is my idle time. I can live with that.
Some see being a company driver as having a chain.
Well, everything has a chain.
I see being a L/O having even more of a chain.
Sure, you can turn down a load you don't like, and you can dictate your hometimes a bit more. And that makes the chain a little thinner.
But the responsibilities of L/O adds more girth to the chain than can be taken away by those small things.
By a large amount, in my opinion.
I get out of most loads that I really don't want, simply by playing the plus-1 game.
I get home time when and where I want, usually within a day of my requested date. Without even trying.
This past month was a pain because of company stuff like b-service and sims and permits, and I got sick for the first time in 4 years.
Sucks.
But at least I don't have to worry about where to fuel where the taxes are lowest, or a $700 per week payment, or complicated taxes, or mt miles, or getting at least this many miles before I can make a profit to eat with.
And I see that often from the stories about mentors needing cash from students. L/O mentors that can't make ends meet even with a student.
There are always success stories.
But 90% seem to be failures.scottied67 Thanks this.
