Two Brakes out of Adjustment, TWO OOS violations?

OK, that explanation clears it up for me. Im still clouded from listening to school "instructors"

 

In california they can ask to see your DVIR and if it is not filled out for that day .they will give you a ticket and have that out-stretched parasitic hand reaching down to the money case

 

Actually the regs state that the d river be satisfied that the vehicle be in safe operating condition before driving. There is some wiggle room on how to do this.

As far as the post trip is concerned, the regs do not state explicitly that one has to be done. The regs simply state that a DVIR is required to be prepared. A post trip inspection is somewhat implied though.

Do you have a card or certification saying you can adjust tthe brakes? If not many scales will not let you do that, especially more recent brakes with the self adjusters.

§ 396.11Driver vehicle inspection report(s). (a) Equipment provided by motor carrier. (1) Report required.Every motor carrier shall require its drivers to report, and every driver shall prepare a report in writing at the completion of each day's work on each vehicle operated, except for intermodal equipment tendered by an intermodal equipment provider. The report shall cover at least the following parts and accessories:[/TD]

The physical inspection is not specified BUT the regulations say you make a report at the end of the day. They used to look for the prior day's report but that does not have to be carried now

 

The funny thing is a person has to be qualified to inspect brakes which a driver isn't qualified under 396.25. So you want me to inspect these brakes even though you tell me I'm not qualified to do it? Which one is it?
