So I came across this article that says Cummins released a non-egr ISX to AUS.http://cumminscommentary.com/2012/1...nd-signature-engines-with-scr-aftertreatment/
So it makes me wonder how long this new engine will last compared to the egr models since it doesn't have an egr valve, cooler, DPF, or a vg turbo?

Will let you know how they go, we should have a report in our local mag early in the new year.
-
What is worth such a report? Another wannabe "truckin expert" journalist will mumble about torque and how he lugged it for few minutes here and there and sum it up "whatta great engine". It is truly unbelievable those idiots get paid for that. If you ask me - we won't know anything in YEARS to come, before some random problem reports and observations start forming into bigger picture. But hey, what do I know - I just drive them for a living
-
I wonderd how long it would take for stateside to hear about these
-
Never be legal as long as CARB and EPA are still around.
-
They are not built for the US market
-
Not sure how your mags work but our ones are very good at telling it how it is.
We will have fair idea how this engine is going in month's not years. -
This is like early Euro-V. No VGT, EGR, DPF becouse engine runs lean mixture (a lot of NOx), but they have DEF, and use more DEF than any other engine to destroy all NOx matter
-
Been testing in Australia since beginning of 2012 so kenworth site said. Think it is made in US for the Europe market. They like testing here in oz with the heat high weight and long distances manufactures get there info quicker, Volvo tests all there new stuff here long before it is released in Europe.
haycarter Thanks this. -
That is the trade off. You get to take all the parts off that may cause a failure that no one likes and now you get to use more DEF. I don't know what % they are saying it is going to use. My guess is 8% DEF usage. It may be higher.
