In our state, they suspend your license for a no insurance ticket. No questions asked. This could be an issue for the OP.
Help! I just got a misdemeanor for driving without insurance. Please advise.

As one not qualified to cast the " first stone " I am still aware that "the choices we make dictate the lives we lead". A loud muffler with no insurance; and having already failed A CDL Exam , you are faced with " decision time " . Are you certain you are psychologically attuned to operating A CMV ? This is A brutal game to be in . No quarter asked;none given should be your assumption going in. The Chinese say " if you wish to see A man's future , you need only study his past " . We do have the power to change ourselves , but no one else. Acting one's way into A new way of thinking , not vice-versa is mandatory. You cannot think your way into A new way of acting. Envision the responsible , honest , meticulous attention to detail guy you must morph into , think about the consequences for every decision you will make , and act like your " ideal " role model would act. Many times, every day, we are faced with choices. For each there is A " cause and effect " consequence . The brutal reality is that there are no exceptions , and God's bills don't come due on the 30th. of the month. If you want to be A " driver " , and survive the learning curve , due diligence is the watchword . Like backing up......not quite sure where that light pole was ? Stop , get out and look, walk the walk , get assistance if needed ...........Assume nothing !

TN has a law that if you can not provide proof of insurance when stopped, or be able to provide proof in court that you were covered at the time of the stop, your license is automatically suspended for one year.
bullhaulerswife and JOMO2NC Thank this. -
Serious stuff driver,
just like keeping your drivers license or medical card current.
Priorities !!!!JOMO2NC and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
If this is your responsibility level with 4-wheelers, you might want to consider another career choice. That being said, a ticket is nothing more than a subpoena. Nothing will go on your MVR until your trial is done or you admit guilt by paying the ticket.
JOMO2NC Thanks this. -
For reiteration purposes; driving a truck is a huge responsibility and very dangerous. Having said that, if you're unable to keep vehicle insurance, you may want to consider a different profession.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 4, 2013

I'd just continue-on,,,stay on-track, and be honest. There is nothing the company isn't gonna know, so be honest! Belly-up and tell them before they ask. That will go farther with them than anything else you say or do.
Don't be "heartbroken",,,go forward and don't quit....ever!
OOIDA again is a good resource for drivers rights & questions like this. They won't charge ya for advise. If yer not a member they will advise ya anyway,,,then ya can join the ONLY outfit that looks out for truckers.Last edited: Jan 4, 2013

My brother in law just got off a three month suspension for having no proof of insurance here in Ohio. It's serious business now days. Especially when you get your CDL. At this point I have had to let my insurance lapse on my personal vehicle also but I know that my license is my livelihood and that's why I don't drive my car when I'm home...until I decide to put insurance back on it. In the future, you really need to think about what affect your actions could have on your career.
