Company says no chains?!?

I Never ran chains. I have worked for company's that made me carry them but didn't want drivers to drive on them. I never had to sit long either. As the old saying goes "If you can't walk on it, what makes you think you can drive on it?"

 

Well, if you live on the west coast this year, if noone could chain, the west coast would be starving.......

 

sure glad some of you lazies don't work for express delivery services. i wouldn't be happy if my express overnight package was 2 weeks late becuase you waited for the chain law to lift.

 

Because the whole west coast will starve if one truck doesnt make it up a mountain.

Chains are not meant to be driven on for a long period of time. They are meant to get you over a mountain and into a safe haven.

 

I don't care whether you chain or not -- so long as you don't wind up half in a ditch blocking the road all day. This guy (and the numbnuts trying to pull him out) tied up the only road to the tank I needed to drain for 6 hours. Was not happy about their "Aw shucks" mentality...

 

Enough silly. You know when it's safe to drive, and when not. Like when to eat, or take a shower. You just know. My Wife begged a Bus Driver not to leave a cafe once. He crashed 3 miles west. No one was hurt bad. Dead is forever.

 

I have never chained before, I need to learn. And that was stupid off me to leave those chains in my old truck and not transfer them over to the new truck...gosh.

 

Just because chains are required doesn't mean the weather is dangerous enough that you're gonna wreck and die. Going through mountains is one thing. Needing chains on a flat stretch of road is something else, and I can't imagine any situation where a state would leave a highway open in those conditions.

 

the states make the roads open. they know people need to get through. they do what they can. just because the roads are open doesn't exactly mean it's safe.

wyoming is the only state i know of that will shut down for whatever reason.can't swear for the eastern side.

 

Indiana will shut em down faster than a kid running to a ice-cream truck.
