Well as I suspected I bounced from Marshall, Mo to Murray, Ky to get a pella load going to Lakeland, Fl. For Monday. I made it up to MontEagle for the night and will knock the final 640 miles out tomorrow. Looking forward to some playoff football this weekend.

They say the cameras are for insurance purposes to protect them in wrecks etc. I didn't like it when they first installed mine, but now I hardly notice it or pay it much attention. The camera faces out to the front, but also in towards the cab. When the ignition is off the camera isn't on.

Made it out of Oregon today for a pick up in Nampa ID. 10 deg right now and dropping. Going to Harrisburg Pa in the morning after getting loaded. My Camera only comes on at 2am for about 30 min, but has a panic button that when pushed will capture 40 sec of video 20 before and 20 after. If an event happens like a crash it does it automatically (captures inside and outside video). Blue Skies

Driver cameras and forced Per Diem? Yuck. Only other company I know of with driver cams is Linde. They pay well enough to make it worth while(70K+) but still lost drivers when they installed them.

Well if your not doing anything wrong why should a camera bother you? I wasn't a fan at first believe me, but I think it has actually made me a safer driver, and I already had over a million miles with no accidents or moving violations. Years ago I drove for a company that did a volunteer study with the Va. Tech driving institute and had 3 cameras installed in and on the truck for a 3 month study, after awhile you almost forget there even there. Now I'm sure some people will spout off about privacy issues, but there not using it to "spy or listen in" I'm sure some of you conspiracy theroryist will say different, but again I have nothing to hide.

At night while the camera is on sleep mode the inside curtains can be closed to have privacy inside the cab

I hear you. I got nothing to hide either. I just fear the insurance companies idea of what is OK might be different from yours.

Lets say you have a steer tire blowout while reaching for your cup of coffee or the CB mic. Insurance company wants 2 hands on the wheel at all times. No eating or drinking allowed.

I wouldn't mind a camera pointed at the road but I don't want one pointing at me.
