I want to know what some of these guys who are always bragging about making so much $$$ are actually making...

Have you checked out Doug Andrus? They are out of Idaho Falls ID.

I'd like to know what "good money" is.

Good or great money is up for interpretation. In the town I grew up in if you make $40,000 a year you are making great money. In other parts of the country it isn't anything.

True Jumbo. True. See, I have been a OTR driver for the last 2.5 years, live in southern california. Anxiously awaiting the day I can quit. I work for CRST. I was fortunate enough a year ago to get a nice dedicated account. Out 4, home 3. The problem is the pay. After 2.5 years I am at .38 cpm. I am paid for 2160 miles a week. Thats about $40k a year. Hard to live well in southern cali on that. I would like to buy a house someday and drive a decent vehicle. I would love to have a local job, home nightly, etc etc. i see jobs available that say you are home nightly, off weekends, etc. But realistically I need about $60-70 k a year to accomplish what I want to. I understand this may sound high to some (maybe low to others) but It is what I am after. I am considering food delivery, LTL line haul/local p&d. Port work, Tankers, I am fully endorsed with a fairly good record. (One ticket in 11 years). So, all that being said, I am just trying to figure out how I fit into the trucking industry. I know I like my hometime. Would love to find a good position that has me home nightly, off weekends. Was wondering if flatbed experience would get me closer to my goal, and how well it pays. Thanks for any advice (or criticism) you all can provide.
