got a bone stock galaxy dx44v, i bought off another driver. it worked great for a few weeks, (monster audio!) then i noticed the radio went quiet. no needle movement from the rf meter on rec. so in short, heres the prob. no rec, no transmit. s-meter swings when mic is keyed. but no audio is transmitted. pa/talk back/ and echo work fine. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. happy trails!

Is your SWR the same as it was when you first installed it? Checked all connections? Antenna coax tight and inserted fully in your radio? The smallest imperfections make a world of difference

Plug another mic into just to be sure that is not the problem but the coax would be my first thought too.
If the SWR was way off it could have killed the single final in that radio...

With a Galaxy, you always have to think of bad solder joints on the board also. I've owned many of these radios and have had to have bad solder joints fixed on every one of them.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Thx everyone for your advice. sry i aint been on for a few days. u no how it is, turnin and burnin. greetin benjamin. wanted to update the issue incase anyone ever has this prob. im new at radio repair, so i wasnt gona give in to this crappy old galay. (sry to all the galaxy buffs!) i pulled both covers off the radio and staired at it, hoping it would reach out and smack me. with no luck, i continued to wiggle components and press on the board. that worked. The issue was a broken chassis ground that is located on the right front solder side of the board. a quick resolder and now it works great! thx again for all the ideas.

Ah; rule #1 of electronics repair: Smack it and see if it works. If it does, then the problem is either a loose connection or a bad solder joint.

Glad you got it working. The old 44v is a good radio.Mine is about 15 years old and still gets used everyday.
I have seen used ones in cb shops sell for over 200 bucks!
