Yeah Ive seen you guys mention some of that before. Do all trainers operate that way though? Some trainers will only allow so much. Of coarse, some trainees are lazy. Obviously you want to do as much as possible to move on. Guess during the slow times its harder. I am thinking it will take longer to get throu the training and therefore the company will change the pay for training to save money, maybe not, or am I thinking wrong. I dont think you will get 3000 miles alot during the winter or around holidays.

Some trainers are there to train and some are there to run team for more money. It's the nature of the beast in this industry and Millis is no exception. Thing to remember is that the trainer does not control everything on the truck. Millis will back you up if there is an issue with a trainer as long as you don't cross the line. Don't abandon the truck, don't fight with the trainer, physically or verbally. And read the manual and stick to the training. If you have any issues, call training!
That being said, there is nothing wrong with the trainer doing some driving. Just don't push yourself to try and drive your whole 11 after you've been up while the trainer drives. You should be doing 100% of the backing unless there is a safety issue. And you really should be able to do it all your last two weeks.
As for the pay changing, I can't say cause I don't know but I doubt it. They already are paying some people to be on the truck for 10 weeks, so it won't change that much. Keep in mind that if you are sitting during slow periods, you may be on the truck for 8-10 weeks, but you won't get paid for the days sitting and neither does the trainer. You can't turn in your paperwork for the week until you have 7 days of word, and if you have missed days your pay might skip a week and not get paid till the following week.JackTheWhack Thanks this. -

I talked to a couple friend today who are trainers and I was told that in addition to the 15000 miles requirement, the company wants you to complete those miles within eight weeks otherwise they will consider it a fail. I understand there are extenuating circumstances such as testing and retesting and mechanical issues but I heard the trainer has the final say

Jack, I brought way to much crap to school. Laminated map, leather gloves, sneakers, boots, hat, foul weather gear, typical hotel personal stuff, school stuff listed on the paper they send you. I brought 7 days worth of clothes just cause I hate doing laundry.
I had 2 trainers. The first was for 6 weeks and retired army mustang and had been training for 7yrs, driving for 12yrs. He was, at times, a tough #######(being ex-military I was use to it), but I ask a million questions over and over, listened and learned a lot. CDL was a breeze due to his training. My 2nd trainer only lasted 1.5wks till I tested out. He was the complete opposite of the first and had only driven for 2yrs and trained for 1. I realized after talking to other classmates that there is little standardization in training. Even the qualcomm instructions were different between my trainers and between my classmates. I loved training process, but after 7wks in a truck with 2 grown men I was ready for some space. Yes, to me, it was worth the money, the headaches, and the "I'm just gonna push him out of the truck @66mph" moments to finally sit in my own truck and get that first dispatch.fzoo70 and JackTheWhack Thank this. -
Thank You for the info...I've got so much crap loaded in my truck for the same reasons. I hope it doesn't roll on me. I'm looking at this as a career change and not just a holdover to something else down the line. I looked and researched for a very long time before I made the decision to get on with Millis. I want train,learn and stay at Millis...It will work perfect for me. Thanks again for the info...I'll look for you after i get going down there.

Day 2 in Shelby IA. Yesterday couldn't get an eta out of Menards on my load because there where 4 others waiting to be picked up, Dispatch assured me they had just got off the phone with Menards and it would be ready. Checked this morning and guess what its not loaded and they don't load on Sunday. No restart because I drove down from the truck stop, no detention because menards doesn't pay it. All this for a run to Pekin IL. Bit Tee'd off atm.
On the plus side had another 10 day vaca for the holidays, and good miles before that. -
Looks like the T 680s are arriving. I was driving past Black River and saw some being transported in.

Delivered to Delgrosso's in Tipton Pa. Saw a Millis Volvo. How many of them to we have? Haven't seen any before.
