The reply was in response to the previous post he made about the convoy comment. My post was a sarcastic reply.
My main issue with some of the posters on here is they come in thinking they are holier than thou. Someone asks a question, just answer it, theres no need for them to preach. Its kinda like the drug question and people getting all up in arms saying "You should rethink your career path, I dont want to get killed by you blah blah blah". People quit doing drugs so that they can get in to this profession. Their first stop is here to find out what they need to do, not to get a lecture about drugs are bad. The lectures are not just limited to drugs but many different topics. There are far more drunks on the road than pot heads, I assure you that.
I have no problems with people making jokes or veering off topic but I dont need someone to "keep me in check" Im more than capable of doing that myself.
If you choose not to answer any of my questions thats fine, I dont have a problem with that.

I've gotten away with 78 in a 70. I guess because it was most than 5 of us that the one police couldn't pull us all over.

I have helped lots of drivers. I like that. Didn't even know about likes, of what they are, I just want to make our way of life better. YOUR a Trucker, Respected by ALL. A leader. When you climb in that cab, Your the BOSS! Act like it. Old Truck Driver Said that.

If I'm doing more than 2 over I feel like I'm pushing my luck. They really don't talk about it at the policeman's ball. It's an individual thing. There's a whole bunch 5 over to go after all of them. They might target 10 over or even 15 over. They can preset the alarm speed on their radar. Most I've seen were 5 over before it starts flashing and catches his attention. Radar traps will get anyone.
There's a federal regulation that your speedometer has to be accurate within +/- 5 mph. I don't know how that would hold up in court? I don't get speeding tickets. I get all the others.
-
I have heard of people getting out of tickets because the radar gun was not calibrated recently. This was several years ago so I would assume technology has gotten better since.
I guess it will depend on the person and the location much like having an inspection, luck of the draw.
i lived in central illinois for a year and a half and took several trips to Chicago. Saw many times where they had the trap on the overpass with several troopers on the on ramp waiting for the go ahead. -
It is different for trucks and HP knows it. The higher the speed the severity of the infraction against the trucking companies safety record.

I go the speed limit everywhere I go, except in MI in some parts I will go 63-64 in the countryside, and when traffic starts getting heavier I go 60. And speed limit for cars is 70, and most of the time, people are going 80 or more.
I drive home from the yard and go 78 in the left lane, in my personal vehicle, and before I know it, someone is behind me wanting to go go go.
Same in Houston, I go 65 when it's 65, and when it goes down to 60, I'll go exactly 60.
I'm not going to go faster just because the flow of traffic is faster. That just doesn't follow any logical sense to me. Speed limit is 60, I go 60. -
I dont mess with Ill, Ca, Wa or Or. Matter of fact I really only run cali and stay outta Ill and the Northeast and Northwest. I drop the hammer at nite when most traffic is bout zero to none and that is usually on the bottom I-10. Most of the cops late nite are pretty good and dont get on ya unless u get real stupid.
Cowmobile Thanks this. -
I was on i10 headed out of CA a few weeks back and a driver put out a bears location on the radio. Was just before Blythe. Said he went by at 73 and didn't get stopped. I have a feeling that the bear was preoccupied... 73 in a 55 is more than lucky. Or, maybe he exaggerated his speed a bit...
