I am trying to get myself in shape. I have done a lot to change my life style but I still have a ways to go. I am thinking that for Christmas I'm going to get me a 'folding' bike to keep in the truck. My company will not allow any thing strapped to the sleeper, no top bunk in the truck; so I figure folding is the best way to go. I could place it on the floor in front of the passenger seat (no one ever sits there.)

My question is this I have lost some weight but I'm still at about 315lbs. I'm wondering if any one knows if any of the folding bikes will support me for easy going rides. I'm not going to be on ESPN screaming down a rock face or anything. In my looking online I have found these bikes. They look really strong but I have not got a response to my email about the weight handling.

I found another site that will take $50 off MSRP

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Hmmm, it seems to me that at 315, you will still have problems cycling on most any bike. Are you walking enough? Just plain walking will get the same exercise as any of these silly bikes. Make sure that you have good walking shoes. Once you get down to a reasonable work-out weight where you aren't risking knee pain and back strain, then you can get a quality bike designed for your body dimensions. Then, simply make sure it has quick release wheels. Take off the wheels and stack with the frame inside the cab somewhere. None of these folding bikes really rides very well in my opinion.

Thanks for all the good tips. And to answer the concern about why I don't walk off more of the weight first, thats because just walking feels like a chore to me. Its something that I feel like I have to do. I have always enjoyed riding a bike, and until I started driving I was riding about 10 to 15 miles a week at least instead of taking my car to work. I think it will be a lot easier to get me up and going.

There was a concern about my weight: I'm about 315lbs now, but at 6'1" and a very broad upper frame I'm not exactly bed ridden or one of those slow waddling messes you see having a hard time making it from pump one to the fuel desk. A couple days ago I unloaded 13k lbs of furniture by myself in 1 hour by hand with out a problem.
Also thanks for the kind words. I went ahead and ordered the bike from my opening post and it arrived at the house today. I'll be there Saturday I'll let you all know how it goes.
