I was told in school training with any company was what you made of it. I researched everything I could find on what the best company was for trainees would be. One that would let me bring along my little dog after probation. Everything I read about E.L. Henderson seemed to click. The company was good, my trainer was a nightmare. After reading all the horror stories about bad trainers and bad companies it made me afraid for my job. I called one time for advise/help once because she was screaming at me about an energy drink and wanted me off her truck. 6 hours later she acted like nothing happened. So I called again and said I wouldn't be put out of the truck after all and drivers are insane.
She had several meltdowns during the month I was with her. She got mad at me for not asking questions, yet she wouldn't ask me what I knew or didn't know or tell what I should know. She never did a physical pre-trip. I assumed (& we all know how that goes) because she was an owner/operator she was lazy & eventually tell me why she does or doesn't do any of the things I learned in school. On several occasions I had to ask her to quit yelling at me. She would screech "I'm not yelling" and I would have to ask her to please lower her voice over and over again until she was talking at a normal conversational level. SCREECHING IS NOT TEACHING.
Her final meltdown was after she had to pay $2,000 for repairs to her truck that were not lease authorized and she started winding up ######## about trainees destroying her truck. She kept winding up until I was the direct cause of the repairs to her truck and she had to get me off her truck and she wasn't going to train anyone anymore. She telephoned dispatch to see if there was going to be another trainer in the yard when we got in. then she told me she thought I needed to be with another trainer. I agreed with everything she said so I could get off her truck. I texted my son to meet me there @ 0030 hrs. When we got to the yard my son was waiting and I started getting my stuff off the truck. She acted like nothing had happened and asked if I was getting off the tuck. I said Yes, she had told me I was supposed to. Then the kicker. she said I couldn't get off the truck under load. I disagreed and told her we were done with the load since it was a yard drop. she said, No the one we are to pick up at the yard at 0500 & take to Denver.
She was the one who told me I was off her truck she denied it and started typing on the QualComm. I was not about to put my things back on the truck after all she had said.
I went back to the shop in the morning during regular business hours only to be taken to a conference room and confronted by a firing squad committee. They didn't want to hear about anthing unless it was to verify possible terminable offenses of violation of company policy. One of which was the pet policy. I had not given the company a deposit for my 5 lb poodle. When my trainer learned I had a little dog at home she insisted we swing by my house when we were near and pick him up. She is an owner/operator, has her own little dog. again I messed up and assumed because of this she was exempt from the some of requirements that company drivers were to abide by. Once the meeting ended they said they would call me with the results. 7 hours later I am stuck in St. Louis, I had lost my wallet somewhere in the hoard of her truck or on the side of the road in Texas. I have no ID so I can't fly or take any national public transportation. I don't have my debit card, it's gone too. I live in CA, my son is in the military and can't just take me home. Thank you to my trainer for being a psycho I hope Karma bits you in your miserable butt.
I'm 50 years old, I need to work. I don't need to be treated like this. 20/20 hindsight, part of me thinks I should have stuck to my guns when I made the first call to get help. A bigger part of me believes no matter what I would have done or said I would have been in trouble because they are liable for the actions of their trainer and have to support what they do short of prove-able criminal activity.
If it's on the internet it must be true...LOL Henderson has a good internet rep, but.

She sounds like a real mental case.

She does sound like she may have had some issues lol.
I think most companies will have some that shouldn't be training. -
The joys of this profession.Hang in there lesncival.Stories like yours is typical in trucking.I'm not going to say it won't happen again, but if this is what you wanna do,you need to go on with your everyday life and find another company and or trainer.Don't let what happened to you eat you up inside. Not all trainers are as bad as the one you had and many trainers should'nt be trainng.Problem with starter companies is they need trainers so you only need a few months exp which is nothing more then the blind leading the blind.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you on your assumption!

Since I have been "let go","released from probation", "fired", "terminated", what is the possibility of someone even hiring me after this episode?
-
I believe thats going to depend on the details, particularly what henderson fired you for, and not "my trainer was crazy so i ran away from her and got fired for it" theres plenty of companies that will look past it, not saying those are great companies but they will take you. Western express will probably take you and they have a terminal in fontana california

Not good! You might want to lay low for a few years and maybe work for Walmart and get it together first before coming back.
