I am curious as too whats too cheap in your book. What I find intresting is I hear all these O/O's out on the raod bragging about how much they make, and when I inquire about rates at thier company they are pulling for pennies just like the rest of us.
O/O claims to make 2.00 per mile, simple math devide by 2 to get the real milage.

That would mean 1750 miles? Lets go with your low number on fuel, $1800 at $3.50 per gallon. 514 gallons That would put you getting about 3.4 miles per gallon. Your numbers just don't add up, either way you look at it. If your truck only gets 3.4 MPG's you might want to consider selling it instead of buying chrome for it. No matter what, you need to do what is right by your drivers and pay the taxes and insurance. What if he gets hurt on the job, how is he supposed to care of his family then? He may sue you, and then it would be your problem. Some bussiness owners open themselves up to lawsuites by taking shortcuts and operating illegally. Then its only a matter of time.

Your math just dont add up, where are you getting 1750 miles? I didnt say I was getting 2.00 per mile. better re-add the numbers to get it right. Try a calculator next time. -
If Im a bottom feeder and I am above you in the food chain, where does that leave you....

I just read where you divide by two to get the real mileage. 3500 / 2 =

Maybe a litercy class is needed. Let me re-explain the division:
If a O/O tells you he/she is making 2.00 per mile, to get to the truth divide 2.00 by 2 = 1.00 per mile. Nothing to do with my simple math stated above. -

The topic was benifits, not about how I pay. -
1st- I hope this isn't the way you talk to everyone. I'm quite sure you wouldn't if you were not behind a keyboard.
2d- I havn,t insulted you at all, just trying to understand your numbers.
3rd- If your going to throw out a great big word like literacy, as in calling someone illiterate, you should at least spell it right.
4th- If you have been reading this forum you would know, to do what you want to do you need to find a niche.
I was only telling you what I know to be a fact about 1099'ing a driver. Trying to keep them from getting screwed over and your butt out of hot water. It is evident that you know what is right but will continue to do what is wrong. After this last post, I hope it catches up with you sooner than later. But it will catch you, because you cant operate at 1$ per mile, especially paying someone else to drive for you. -
Sorry BHW, was typing when you sent this.
