Do you think new drivers shouldn't go straight to the big trucks and start with the smaller ones first ?

Hey-How are you?No i don't.I don't care what you drove before, the first time in an eighteen wheeler you are a "newbie".Bobtails drive, turn and back differently so i don't think there's any real benefit to driving something smaller. Then again,i learned to drive eighteen wheelers in a heavy wrecker and tractor-trailer doing oversize. You have to learn somewhere. If it's eighteen wheelers you want to drive, then learn to drive eighteen wheelers.Take care.Brian

what pete said. most difficult part of driving is backing. while you probably arent going to hurt anyone doing it, most of the accidents occur there. driving a straight truck gives you zero experience with this. so while i wouldnt want a BRAND new driver (someone whod never driven anything) to get in my tractor trailer, i wouldnt look at someone with straight truck experience any differently than someone with only car experience. same newbie imo.

You need to start with a tricycle and work your way up to an 18 wheeler

I believe that a new driver should train in the vehicle he wants to drive. Straight truck experience would be useful but if you intend to drive a tractor trailer you need to train and get experience in a tractor trailer.
