Why not? Just because clowns live in it why do they deserve armed security?

Unless you are an Illinois resident AND have a FOID, they had also better be inaccessible or disassembled.

For a resident with a FOID, the case containing both the unloaded firearm and a loaded magazine (as long as the magazine is not inserted into the firearm) can be sitting in your lap as you drive.

If you're a company driver, that's the quickest way to get fired. The OP specifically asked about carrying for the sole purpose of range practice on his downtime so I won't mention the personal protection aspect of it. However, if you were even able to find a range with truck parking, if you're a company driver you can still get in trouble. If someone snaps a pic of your trailer, I'm pretty sure no trucking company right now wants to be associated with the huge controversy of guns.

A little off topic but to be a successful driver, you're expected to be a good little soldier/company man. Don't question, don't ask about what weapons you're "allowed" to have (automatic red flag). We're not here to stimulate or challenge our superiors and question the way things are done. We're here to do what we're told, don't like it there's the door.

I'm not berating the OP, he has the right to know and ask but that's a judgement call. To all the newbs out there, if you're doing a prehire interview and you ask about carrying, I pretty much guarantee you won't get the job (think of the liability)

In the state of Florida we're not allow'd to draw on someone and not pull the trigger. If we pull it out then we have to use it. If not, then the perp can turn around a sue. We can't even pistol whip someone. If the fire arm is un-holstered, a round needs to be fired or you could face criminal charges. I have a CCP and if someone was running at me with a large knife, i couldn't even shoot them in the leg to stop them, that would be considered assault. So i pretty much have to try and kill someone.

My whole plan is that if i ever have to draw on someone, i'll put a couple in their shoulder and just say i was aiming for center mass and missed. No one dies and hopefully i get to stay out of prison.

There is no controversy regarding guns. Don't drink the Koolaide

Any controversy is around idiots, sociopaths, and other mental-deficient's, actions with a fire arm.
The problem lies solely with those persons and the media's presentation of their crimes against society.

Forks kill more people than guns yet the media does not bother to address that issue in a similar depth.
Lawyers and jury trials have presented issues that cause certain entities choose to place (kneejerk) policies in place in hopes of absolving themselves of any liability...

Any kind of aberrant behavior even age, religious, or flaming gay, is going to put a person on the short list for getting hired.
Someone who would bring attention to ANY sensitive issue during a job interview is literally shooting themselves in the foot.

Weapon possession in any form is a matter of personal choice, and is not something one advertises or begs permission for.
All weapons legal or not carry the weight and full consequences of their use.
On the other hand, My bunk is my home and I have to right to defend myself as I see fit.

The CEO and the Legal department don't go in to the less than safe places they send their drivers (with no regard)
(they will tell you not to go in a place you don't feel safe on one hand, but on the other probably fire you for refusing to go there),
so in my mind they have little say in how a person chooses to protect themselves.
How that person decides to deal with that issue is a personal matter with many alternatives, legalities or policies aside.

Thank you! Finally somebody said it. Also for those of you who are not from IL, it has been legal to posses a firearm in your residency within the city limits of Chicago for 2 years now? The NRA won that battle. Also about 3 weeks ago the court system in IL also found it unconstitutional to not allow a law abbiding citizen to carry concealed. The state was given 180 days to have it all set in place.
