Having the 667 turned off it will not make a difference what the radio keys..it will be the same either way.
When i had a 667 i had my radio set at about 8 watt dead key. -
the 667 can be keyed with a higher wattage if i remember correctly. the best thing would be for you to get one of the texas star 150 modulators and use that to drive the amp. but to answer your question, it makes no big difference really. the lower the dead key, the more swing the radio will have and that is what makes a radio sound good (that and a good tune by a good tech). swing is good. remember that.

The Texas Star modulator is 100 watts and should be driven
with two watts dead key, from radio. Or a little less. -
its been a while since i have seen one of those modulators. couldnt remember if it was 100 or 150. for the wattage they produce, they are still mean.

The 667V is 650 watts. I ran mine with no modulator and it was a beast.
