Food service such as US Food Service & fuel haulers; can make well over $40K.

I only drive 4 hours or less from my house pulling trailers in and out of the rail yards around Chicago. $52K M-F only and home nightly... More if I volunteer for weekends.

I've made $55K doing aggregates in S. Ca. But you have to get the gravy jobs and be liked by dispatch.

??? 40k a year is the goal? almost anything that is local will pay that much around buffalo, with the HOS the way they are, you can make that at 14 bucks an hour as long as you are working a decent amount every week, and if you get overtime, it makes it even easier.
schneider and jb hunt run daycab intermodal around buffalo, i'm sure those guys make at least 40k a year.
LTL and Foodservice are not 40k a year jobs around here, they are 55-65k a year jobs, if not more. 40k isn't that much, its only 769 a week, gross. -
I'm local and I think 40k is too cheap to drive on. I'd be insulted if I made that little.

Where are u located....east coast...west....Northwest.....Northeast...southeast? I just retired from a company in 2011 that delivered McDonalds.... GSF..Golden State Foods.... and they have 21 different distribution centers across the US. I averaged over 70,000 a year and ran 4 trips a week, and was home every night. Only thing is,,,,this is a VERY,VERY, labor intensive job. But great pay, home-time, and the ins. benefits are awesome if you have a family. But remember this ain't no job for someone not willing to finger-print alot of boxes.

I would look into the local LTL companies and see what they have to offer.
