Why are these your only 2 choices?
-
I never worked for either but from "word on the street" Schneider is better.
nightrider57 Thanks this. -
i prefer reefers so covenant, but i have a better opinion of Schneider for a starting company. i have not worked for either, but have met people who have.... have i confused you yet or shall i continue ? Maybe paper schissor, rock would be better than my advice on this.
Schneider does have a lot of option to go with to find your niche.... Wagon, tank, flats, dedicated and glassLast edited: Jan 9, 2013

My wife and I are going to Covenant; we start Monday. From our research, Schneider has crappy/older equipment, 4 minute kill-the-truck idle, and doesn't allow inverters in the truck.

We are looking for a company to train us together so we have just 1 way of doing things rather than 2 from 2 different trainers. As far as we know these are the only 2 companies that will train us together
-
My wife and I are very excited to be able to train together for the same reason. It'll be nice to get trained the same way, and avoid any possible arguments about which way is better. And, we'll be able to experience the same things. Plus, being apart for 4-6 weeks would suck, no doubt!nightrider57 Thanks this.

CarRamRod,
Please let us know how it goes. We start school Monday and have to choose our company soon. What have you been told on if you need a Hazmat or do you know the training difference, as fas as time it takes and money paid? -
It is $450/week during training, plus an additional 2cpm if you have your hazmat. They recommend you get your hazmat if you run with Covenant, as teams with them run more miles, and who doesn't want that right? They told us that training with just one person on the truck takes about 35 days and with two people on the truck it can take approximately 40 days, give or take a few days.

there is no comparison, go with schneider...covenant is a terrible company, just look at past posts, thousands of complaints.
schneider is an otr carrier so they arent perfect and the pay isnt --the best--- but my impression is theyre well above average as far as otr carriers go in general.
