    I look on craig's list and see hundereds of add's companys looking for owner operators or driver's , but need all this experience ,
    i know it's for insurance reasons , but where in the hell are all these guy's going to come from ????
    i have 26 years running local freight but not much over the road , guess im screwed

    Start calling and being honest. Some companies will take your experience over someone with only couple years.

    Usually the " requirement" are to weed-out those with none! Chances are they will look at your app and give you credit fir say half since it is not otr

    your experience is not worth half..but it definitely is worth something. as a local driver you probably saw somewhere around 30-40k miles per year? say 1/4 to 1/3 if i was looking at your application...assuming you are talking about semi and not straight truck. might be a different story when it comes to the pay scale...you might indeed get screwed there. but im positive if you start applying you will find a decent job pretty quickly.

    Yes apply IMO driving on the Interstates is the easiest.....I think the drivers that start local in the city traffic and local deliveries have the most important experience there is.
