Update: Just completed orientation with USX, meeting trainer in Marion Ind. Bus ride was an adventure. First the shuttle from the yard, was late in getting back to the yard, (driver lost his phone), the bus was running late, to the first stop, ( Dayton, Trotwood), the station's in the local's bus stop and closes at 11:00pm, but they were kind and kicked us out at 12:30 am. The bus to Fort Wayne was an hour late, and when he got there, the station was closed. I had to walk around from 3:30 am to 5:15 am, when a BK opened for breakfast, Bus station opened at 7:15am and just closed at 9:15, Called FM and explained to him what was going on. He was cool and told me to let my trainer know that I will be a "tired" driver before I even get in the truck and that he would have to drive for a day so that I could rest up a bit. Welcome to trucking, Mr. Knuckles!!!!
Buffalo644 and NoCoCraig Thank this. -

Welll.... Just completed 2 months with USX, and so far I have managed to become the "problem child"!!
The first day was okay, but picking up someone elses rig. and bringing it back to a location that I wasn't familar with (missed the dc on the first day) and then getting an "auto" after training on a "standard". but that wasn't the biggest problem. I got a load for a city in Ohio, and my GPS, sent me to another state!!!
Then the unthinkable happened, major accident, with the equipment, costing $XX,XXX.XX(more than 10, less than 50) and I got probation for 6 months, NOW! on New Year's Eve, a tire blows out and put a whole in the cab!!!
Now the cab's in the shop, and I am at home and maybe out of a job. so although I was not sited for either one ( I don't know if the blowout is listed as a "preventable", but does any one know if a slightly new, and still learning driver can find another job within the trucking field?

A tire blow out happens all the time and has nothing to do with your record but lets start at the top. The GPS never drives your truck, it is a tool but you HAVE to plan your route using a map before the truck moves. I know early on, my wife would make a list of the entire route on a little pocket note pad and keep it on the dash.
If you are fired, based on what you have stated here it does not sound like you will, you will have a hard time getting on with a major OTR company. You could probably work the oil fields but that is not going to get you any otr experience and is #### hard work.Steering Knuckles Thanks this. -
Well that's good to know, because I am sweating bullets here, but I did just speak with Schnieder, and may fill out an app,...just in case. but thanks for the encouragement. I will start doing that as well. One reason was a trip through Jamestown NY, Bath and Painted Post ( NY86) and GPS was still on the last load that I had in Ohio!
I will from now on, be extremely carefull of my surroundings and be more diligent of looking 360 degrees around me. Once again, thanks for the encouragement. NoCoCraig.
