Good idea. Gets you back into the groove (as long as you get a good mentor). I didn't take that route myself, but I certainly respect a driver who does!

    Stay safe!

    dptrucker Thanks this.

Hello all, sorry let me rephrase that greeting,HONK to all my fellow truckers.I'm new to this, not an o/o,just a regular Joe trying to bust in the industry.I got a class b cdl inquired and completed application process for panther.2 days ago recruiter told me I was approved and he would find me a company that would take me on.I got about a year of para transit experience in NYC driving a cargo van.Still no call back from recruiter,is this normal. Thanks in advance.

No it won't be recognized, the vast majority of trucking companies recognize 5 states as OTR. If you go to an OTR company, they may require you to go to a refresher course for their insurance, then with a trainer for a short time, then you'll be good to go.

That's awesome ! Just make sure you do your homework on whatever company you decide to go to. Just remember , recruiters are paid to get butts in the seats, and not all of them have integrity. Good luck and wish you the best on your new career !

There's really no correct answer to that, ultimately it's your decision. I would be leary of a third party "recruiter" though, yes it's a little leg work to research companies on your own, but in the long run you'll save yourself alot of headaches , not to mention not giving your personal information to someone that you don't know. I would recommend looking up OOIDA on the internet. I'm a member of it, kinda like a union for truckers. As a member you can call them and ask them all the questions your asking on here and get a non bias opinion.
