So far as I know food lion is night deliverys. They always have been for me, so I don't think it's food lion, but I could be wrong.

Driving is unlike anything you've ever done in your life, so it only makes sense you'd be a little nervous, especially after your false start.

Being a little nervous is good. I'm not supposed to be a trainer, but often the new guys will run with me for a day or two.

As an unofficial trainer, I would much rather have somebody a little nervous than a super trucker who already knows it all.

Well, I have driven before for about a year and a half, though it was 20 years ago. So, I do have at least some idea of what to expect though I know there will be many differences including in technology and regulation. I've always looked forward to going back to it actually, but that just means there is even more at stake I guess.

Good luck Doulos. Yeah, it was Food Lion. I called ahead and explained I was cutting through the fog and would be a little behind. They took me no problem! So I'm loaded for the weekend and sleeping next to a chicken farm in NC. Probably hitting the Iowa 80 up Sundayish.

    Hello Ms. Lady K ....

I was curious about the DOT Test that Central wants their drivers to pass .... Has to do with heavy lifting etc..... Can you give me more information about that before I even try to apply? I hear you have to be able to lift and carry around 75 lbs. ....

    I'm concerned because I'm female and over 50 ....

Any input you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Toni

I was 49 when I did it... Yes you do need to carry a milk crate with weights in it... You will carry it 53' one direction, turn around and carry it back... You will need to be able to lift it from the ground to about waist high and put it on a shelf... There are a couple tasks with weights, but good thing is you can rest between tasks.

If you want to read about our journey, from start to now... READ HERE
