I am looking at 2 intermodal jobs, JB Hunt and Schneider. Jb is home everyday and schneider is home weekly. My concern is who not the schedule but who is better to work for. I also have some concerns about the idle issue I have been reading about with Schneider because this job starts and ends at the ramps so if i spend my ten hours down in the truck will i not have heat or ac. Do they have bunks and showers available at these ramp locations. JB is home every day but with the drive to and from on a 14hr day I would have very little time to sleep, etc. The Schneider job advertises to pay more also. Thanks for info from anyone who is familiar with intermodal.

I am biased I work for jb dedicated but they run sleepers as well on our intermodel account you could tell them you would prefer to be in a sleeper for when your tired and don't want to drive back and forth our intermodel guys tend to do a little better than the advertised pay the yearly pay ranges that jb advertises our easily beatable in most cases either company should be good I find the rail yards a lot easier than running ports drop and hook most of the time .
-
not many JB's are drp and hook though they dont like having there equipment out in the open with no power behind it so the majority of there moves for me down here i stay hooked up just about all of them.
-
That's interesting when I helped the intermodel side I did all drop and hook I know a lot of the customers that get regular loads can be drop and hook .

the jb hunt listing did not say but the schneider ones say's 75% d & h. thanks for the info guy's i will be talking with both recruiters tomorrow so any other info would be appreciated, i.e. do's and dont's things to look out for. I just went through a bad experience with prime and i really don't want to mess with frozen food warehouses any more. i spent almost a year doing local with bh trucking making deliveries from a c&s warehouse and that had more bad than good to it.
-
Sni has local deliveries depending on we're you live it's on their sight I see them run a lot of day cabs in Chicago

yes they do however this job is regional driving within a 275 mile radios, and it's a 2 hr drive from my home but it stated weekly home time with the potential for a few extra days i guess depending on how busy the rail yard is. the jb job is 150 mile radios only an hour away from me with daily home time plus 2 days off.

I work Jb Hunt Intermodal out of Atlanta. Where I work is pretty casual and laid back . I'm local so I work 5 on and 2 days off and if I want to work a 6th, I can. As far as money, I grossed a bit more than 56,000. Remember I work n a very busy market n Atlanta and if I work a 6th day here or there, I will. Anything u want to ask feel free.

I'm strongly thinking about working for JB, running regional intermodal out of Haslet, Tx. Heard a few good things and of course some bad. Does anyone have recent experience with the Haslet JB railyard? Do they keep you running and how is the pay as well as equipment. I'm a runner not a sitter. I'm leaning towards going so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
