assault? did it get knocked down to disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace? keep trying the good thing is about trucking. someone will put you to work. it just may not be with the best of people. and it may not be the best of terms which you take the job under. but it does work out to be experience. which will help you later to trade out for a better job.

Navajo looks at police records on a case by case basis. Try that company.

Paschall Truck Lines & Western Express would be 2 good companies to apply with.

The recruiter for your school should have informed you that it would be difficult to get a job in the trucking industry with a violent charge misdemeanor or felony that is not at least 5 years old. Its not insurance its they don't want you to beat up your trainer or team mate while out on the road then the trainer/ team mate can sue them for knowingly putting you on the truck knowing that history, so i guess technically it is insurance lol. it is gonna make searching for a job harder but not impossible. I know crst will probably take you but keep them on the back burner and keep searching. Every Trcuking Job Dot Com will submit a lot of applications for you in one shot once submitted to all those companies. Start going thru the list that isnt on that web site Im sure someone will work with you, again your recruiter should have said something. I have a very similar charge but was in 2008 and it has limited me as well but not all options are gone. Just keep following thru try to get most recruiters to contact you thru email so you have written documentation of recruitment offers(if not written means poop)and insist that they do the extensive backround search before you get there so you would know before a long bus ride there that you wont be sent home for something stupid. Most companies advertise they only go off last three years for everything if that was true my 5 year mvr would be giving me trouble. Keep your head up and good luck.

School recruiters don't care about your ability to find a job as that's not their prerogative. You pay them to get a CDL, and that's exactly what you'll get in return. A CDL. The school couldn't care less about what you do or do not do when you get the CDL. It's YOUR responsibility to research BEFORE you make that step. Not the schools, and not the governments. Time and time again, these questions pop up and it's the same answer every time. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If you knew in advance that you had a bad criminal record, driving record, etc; you should have started calling companies BEFORE you enrolled in a mill. Not after. Bottom line = Find out if you're hireable BEFORE getting the education. This not only applies to trucking, but EVERY skilled profession out there.

That is the main reason...the type of charge ASSAULT. Companies know how stressful a job that trucking can/will be. They don't want a person with any kind of violent history "getting into a fight" with a customer, or with a customers employee, or forklift operator, dock-hand etc. If you don't play well with others , then this isn't an industry to get into.

I have a very similar charge of simple battery. Some companies may take a written explanation, but again most of them want it to be at least 5 years old, Im sure you can find a smaller companies that will hire you just keep looking and dont let negative comments get you down. As long as its a misdemenor some companies will review by an individual case and time since check out crst and navajo transportation just to list a couple. Just remember from now on to walk away sometimes easier than others, I had to learn the same thing, Time and persistence will get you in.
