See the whole reason im lookin at a company paid school is because i have nothing. I was a foreman of a road crew. I loved being on the road. Driving transporting. July i was hit by a car and snapped my femur. None the less i have a titanium rod now and four screws. I lost everything in the last six months including my car and had to move back home with my mother and family so i had in home care in the beginning. Now my old boss keeps dickin me around so i pretty much gave up on going back and want to stay on road. For a job where i can support my boys and make sure they have the things they need. But yea i like your thinking and point of view. You really put perspective on this thanx all of you.

As far as the dot physical. Im not worried bout that. Bone is as healed as it ever will be. Ive been in physical therapy and got great function and support with my leg again. I can still carry a deep freeze on my back if i need too. Well one of those 7.2 cubic foot ones.

I think swift has been good everything they toldme so far has worked out. If I remember right its something like $27.50 a week for 13 months. The schooling is $3900 but you only payback like half during that 13 months. So not bad, my friend said their benefits are pretty good to. Hope this helps a little but still call a recruiter and ask questions. I leave for school on this Sunday so ill try to post some more info for you. Good luck and be safe.
shorty7308 Thanks this. -
i have only been driving two years my recomendation would be to stay away from cre look into reegional work if possible you posess what some companys want no experience. i have talked to a couple of millis drivers and they all talked very highly of company. if a company has several thousand drivers ask recruiter how many drivers a year they hire i started with werner and don't think i was even a number at least was treated that way

Take a look at the expedite trucking companies also, such as Panther Expedite.

Are you going through a CDL school or are you doing this on your own? Doubt if you will get hired by any of the big companies unless you have attended an "approved" school. Stevens has their own training program and some of the others will send you to school but you will pay it back one way or the other. Most of them have a tuition reimbursement program as well. You may query some of the small companies in your area to see if they would take you on as a student with just a learner's license.

I too am doing my research and Schneider is one of the best from what I have read as well as recomendations on here.Stevens is good Swift is good to and so is FFE stay clear of the big blue screw known as Werner and CRST is bad too USA-Truck and Pam Transport are both decent also. Check them out too before you decide believe me all this info can be overwelming but that's what research is for and forms like this help alot. Also helpful is trucking truth.com. Hope this can be some help to you and good luck where ever you decide to go.

What is the foundation of your observations? You need to be careful of what you say based on what others may have posted. Just because you read it some where doesn't mean it's so! Furthermore, it doesn't mean you have to repeat it as if you have first hand knowlege. I've been with Werner for almost two years and now am an owner/op with them and I have been treated very well. My advice, if you don't have anything nice to say, keep quiet. Do your research then make your best choice. Good luck.

I am also in the same boat and doing research a lot of research. This is a very good place for that and so is trucking truth.com CR-England I have heard nothing good about and the same with Werner.Check out Schneider they are really good and so is Millis. Prime is good too but don't lease with them thats where all the bad reviews of them are otherwise they are really good.Stevens Transport,USA Truck,Pam Transport both use Driver Solutions C-1 training school. Swift is good to start at also are one I am considering CRST is ok hit or miss and is teams only. Whatever you do stay away from cr england and werner. cr england has a 6 month contract and they force you into leasing as well as they have a bait and switch shell game going on with the loan you payback.I also found out they have a few law suits over it too from researching I did on them.

You may be right about Werner but I looked else were on them and found out they are hit or miss and are more concerned with money than they are employees. These are facts I found from Trucking Truth.com from a link on there and someone else had a link on here some where too.I also take adice and do my own research but when you have 50-1 negative posts to 1-3 good ones it says something.I also know if you work hard and have a good attitude and work with your dm he will give you the miles you need and get you home when you need ect. it is a two way street and some want to work others want things handed to them.I also make my own observations about companies too and If it wern't for this site and the research I've done I would have gone with cre and that would have been a bad move. There are also alot of bad things said about crst 50-1 bad one good here and other places too.Anything I have said that is negative is fact from info on here and other places ect. I don't go around just saying things that arn't factual of true. You need to read all the post on your current company none are very good wheather they are from disgruntaled drivers or not.Like I said if a company has more bad than good it is most likely true. You are the only werner driver I have heard say they are good, further more if they are that good why don't you post on here for new people like myself who want to get into the industry.I am also a vet. of the Army and do have integrity. If you don't like what I have to say too bad cry baby.
