I have a question I would love some feedback on. I got my CDL-A license back in 2000 and drove through 2007 without any gaps of employment. No tickets, accidents, DUI's/DWI's, and no criminal background. From 2008 to the present I've been a full time real estate agent. Real estate has slowed down considerably. I want to get some steady income again and figured driving would be perfect. I live near West Palm Beach (Palm Beach County, Florida) There seems to be a ton of driving jobs in this area.
I completed a 40 hour refresher course Friday 1/11/13 and am beginning to send applications out. I need the work to be local so that I can still do my real estate work when I'm not driving. From what I am reading on the forums finding a trucking job like this for someone that doesn't have "recent experience" within the past 5 years is challenging.
Prior to driving I was a correctional officer at a prison. I am putting in my application for that as well since it is something I can do and be home every day. But I always enjoyed driving and would prefer sticking with driving if possible.
Thanks, have a good one!
My question is what would be the likelihood of me finding local trucking work.
