Lol it happens. I failed mine the first time too. I got so nervous I forgot how to back up. Next time try to relax a little. I know that is easier said than done but I am sure you will get it. Good luck and watch out for those curbs lol.

My Best Advice
1. Get there BRIGHT AND EARLY. As soon as the instructor finishes his/hers coffee and donuts, you should be RIGHT THERE to catch them at the best mood they're gonna have all day.
2. Breathe. I'll bet you weren't breathing at all when you ripped it out of 7th and into 1st. Like someone else said, Slow, Boring ride. Go less than the speed limit if you have to, It's legal.
3. The Curb. Wait for the Mirror to Clear then Whip it out to swing wide. go REAL SLOW if ya have to. -
When I tested I kept in mind the reason I wanted to be a trucker.....just calm down and think about what you are doing...you will be fine...Good Luck....

I just did my test earlier this week. I was nervous but just told myself I know what I'm doing. Try to think of the tester as just another trainer and don't try to rush anything.
One of my classmates let the pressure get to him and failed by making two really stupid mistakes, mistakes he had never made before.
Another thing I do when taking any type of evauluation is to try and think of it as me training the one who's testing me. As long as you're confident in your skills you should have no problem 'teaching' someone else. -
dont beat yourself up, im sure the tester has seen alot worse

like said above, just breathe , dont think, you already know what to do...
when you start thinking things go wrong

DOnt worry about it!!!! You can do it, its just nerves.
I suggest talking the entire time, calling out intersections, saying when your turning your blinker on and off, saying the gears as you go. It sounds stupid but it helps keep your nervous brain on the particular task you are doing, plus it tells the tester that you are seeing your intersections and remembering your blinkers and such. -
Well I had my Retest today and i passed it. so now i have my CDL. I have been (prehired) by a few companies, but i think i'm going to try usxpress for a year or two then try to get on with maverick transportation. Maverick won't take me right now b/c of my work history. Well thank you all for your advise, it all helped me out this morning.

Try not to think about it as your taking a test.... your just out for a drive with one of your kids, or your wife, or someone not so stressful to think about....
Depending on the DOT officer, you may or may not be able to engage in small talk.
I took the test twice. The first time, I got a jerk that told me, "This is a test, there's no need in conversation."
And the second time, I had a nice old lady, that started the conversation off herself. I forgot I was taking a test there for a while.
It felt good to go into the DMV, and to get the hard copy of my CDL made..... and you will get that same good feeling, you just gotta think, (on the driving part atleast,) that you're with a family member, and not a cop.
