Yeah thunderf4 the truck stops have Slooooow internet, with all the bad connections and truckers already on the same internet connection. Use your phone for a hot spot it's safer and if that's to slow I guess you will have to buy a network card from sprint or someone. You should not have to edit the videos over the web just send them when your finished but I think that's what you meant anyway. What video editor do you use because I do some of this also and just wondered ???

Don't just blow off Pete because you think he's an old fart! He is, but he also has a valid point.
I offer this next bit of info rather tentatively as I don't wish to seem if I'm encouraging such habits. But if you are doing any of this stuff while rolling, at least be smart enough to get the screen up on the dash, where it's not far from your normal line of sight. Looking at a screen in the passenger seat removes the road from all but the extreme edge of your peripheral vision, and is a recipe for a major Charlie Foxtrot.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming on the Noob Knowitall Network!Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -

Ok so i reread my first couple posts and i guess i should have explained it better. I understand what you all are talking about so maybe I need to make it more clear, guess I need to be more detailed. What i should have explained was I need a good internet on the go not wifi, i figure if i can find a good internet connection while moving when im parked it should be even faster, maybe it dont work like that, I'm not sure. I am not going to be on Skype or Blu Tooth 24/7 the whole time i am driving if I even do use it. Maybe 1-5 mins 1 day a week, yes i said 1 day a week for 1-5 mins. I hate talking on the phone, I'm not a phone person. When my kids call me on skype from there moms iphone all I have to touch is the "answer with voice" button, that means they will see me and I will not see them, only voice. It's just like touching the "answer" button on youre phone when you get a call from dispatch or whomever. All my video recording will be done via GoPro i will press the record button as i am about to start driving and let it record till the battery dies, just like i do now when its mounted to my helmet while riding my Honda Shadow then on my 10hr break is when I will edit the GoPro videos and upload them to either FB, or my website, and Blu tooth my girlfriend and or kids while editing the videos or before i go to sleep. Uploading the videos is the main reason I need info on a good internet to upload. Also the phone will be mounted on the dash cluster where I can very easily answer it, I don't even have to push anything to hang up, as most all of you should know when the other line hangs up your phone auto hangs up. So as far as while driving its no different from someone reaching over to grab there coffee or press the button on there phone to answer it through there Blu tooth. Sorry that was my fault for not explaining the whole thing clearly. It was clear in my head and made sense to me, it just didn't come out clear on here. Lol

for me a mifi from verizom gives me the best internet connection on a regular basis
but i am sure there are other cheaper ways to go
and a blue parrott headset is the industry standard judging by all the martian looking drivers walking around the TS
and yes i shut off everything often including the radio in traffic or weather conditions
we tend to forget after a while these trucks are 70 feet long and an 80000 lb disaster waiting to happen
was the same way when i ran my swordfish boat hundreads of miles at see in 50 mph winds
people would say isnt it dangerous???
of course it was but i had done it forever didnt feel that way to me didnt make it less thou -
Thanks Pete "blue parrott" is the one I was trying to think of. In bad traffic bumper to bumper and bad weather, heavy rain, snowy I turn the radio off in my car. It's helps to have that little less distraction. Way to many people that don't pay attention what's going on around them.
