This is the way I'd look at it,strictly from a business side as you'll be operating exactly that way but using a carriers office to do your witholding...etc..so with that as a given, simply go with the flow 1st yr, best advice is just work with dispatch, get some exp under belt, and begin making your connections. Leave the money to take care of itself as you gain the months in the seat. Pushing the envelope is almost always the worst thing a rookie will do, and most likely end up on the discard heap quick with that mentality.
Base your aggresiveness on your exp, this will tell you when its time to go for it more and with well built up routine you will know

 

These numbers are somewhat skewed. Do this math based on 4.3 weeks per month for an average. With these numbers you are only looking at 48 weeks per year, 4x12=48, the other way, 4.3x12=51.6 gives you 51.6 weeks per year

You don't get payed for the weeks/days you don't work so why would I count that into the calculation? He's not going to be working every single day for the year.

 

lol... my first year driving the pay sucked..... as far as students go... you get your guaranteed student pay... other than that .28cpm or .36cpm.... you can make $5 to $60,000+... Its how many miles your run, stop pay, detention, etc.... cant really give you anything on how much you will make except an estimate... and realistically I would say as a newbie with a decent company "average" would be 30k to 37k a year....

 

You are somewhat correct. If you want a weekly average then you use the 4.3 method. The few of us that do the same thing every week and have off the same days every week would use this formula. Myself I earned 56k last year. If you use your formula I averaged 1166 p/w. when in actuality I averaged 1077. The difference being 48 weeks as opposed to 52 weeks.
