There really isn't anything difficult about it, but I will say it's not for everyone either. I will say if you aren't sure that you can handle that type of situation then don't do it, not yet. I see you have only been out here for three years, maybe find a carrier that does dispatch you and wait until you are ready.

It's quite apparent you have no idea as to how this system works and possibly it's beyond your means at this point in time.

Find a good company that pays on percentage, watch what the loads pay, know your cost to operate your truck by the mile down to the fraction of a penny. Refuse to haul the loads that won't give you a profit, haul the ones that will, once you have all that figured out, you should be ready to lease onto someone where you can dispatch yourself. But I will say it again, that is not for everyone, some people just need to be told what to do, nothing wrong with that.

I think that I would rather dispatch myself but you are right about I need to do more with a different company until I can learn. My problem is I stopped driving in the late 90 s and so I had to buy a truck because no one wanted me because it won't with in the last three years.

I'm assuming CRST Malone has their own agents that look for loads or have direct customers calling them with loads from around the country. They would then either call you about the load if you are in the area, or post it to an internal load board that you would have access to via the internet. I'm an agent with Landstar and we occasionally get calls from Malone drivers about loads we have posted as well. It's all about planning and pre-planning. You have to know your freight lanes, where the good freight is, and try to stay in those areas. Once you choose a load, let's say for example from Chicago to Atlanta, and you have 2 or 3 days to get there, start looking for loads in Atlanta before you get there. Try to stay ahead of where you are at, you're basically booking your own freight, running your own business and it should be treated as such. Make it profitable for you, don't run cheap freight, and stay out of the dead freight areas. Hope that helps a bit.....There are a lot of drivers and former drivers on this forum that will chime in or you could seek them out for advice. Good luck to you whatever you decide.
