I've seen Diesal up to 10 cents cheaper when paying with cash.
So if your putting 120 gallons, you can save $12.00 per fill up and you fill up 3 x week = $36 x4 week = 144/month x 12 month= 1728/ yr
+ or - depending on how many mile you drive
I know its NOT very smart to carry that much CASH around, but is it worth the savings?
What are your thoughts and feelings ?

You get "CASH" price by useing most fuel cards also>no real reason to pay with "cash" any more.
-
Why wouldn't you a fuel card that gets discounts that are typically better, and not take the chance of getting robbed with that much cash on you?
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Well I am currently leased on to a company,
The main reward I get is showers at the flying J every time I fuel, but wouldn't I get the showers with cash also? -
No need to carry that kind of cash, if you use certain fuel cards like comdata gives you the cash discount at the pump.

the key is most fuel cards. and the pilot will not take debit as cash price. I now try and avoid pilot and all othe major truck stops for fuel. a place i get for at in oh is 14 miles south of a pilot. today fuel was 3.56 at my place the pilot was 3.89 cash. and its only 14 miles apart.......these major truck stops are not working on their prices they want profit. they drop the gas prices but not diesel prices.... how is gas almost a dollar cheaper....

and i dont use fuel cards anymore i use good old green backs.......

If you open an account with TAB (Transportation Alliance Bank) you can get their PDCA debit mastercard. It also acts like a TCH card for fuel purchases so that you get the "cash" price at all of the major truck stops and an extra $0.02/gallon at Flying J and Pilot. Most fuel cards have a transaction fee of about $1.75-2.50 each time you buy fuel. The PDCA card doesn't have a transaction fee. It is the same as paying cash. It is also easy to fund. You can make deposits with any of the major check card companies, such as Comdata, T-Check, etc., over the phone or internet in minutes. You can also buy a gift card at any Flying J or Pilot and use that to fund the card immediately. You can use the card anywhere just like a standard mastercard. There are no fees and you can also buy checks to use with the account. It is much easier to keep tax records and it is also proof that you were out of town for the IRS per diem credit. Many drivers use the card. It is good whether you are a company driver or owner operator. The bank used to be owned by Flying J before the Pilot buyout.scottied67, NavigatorWife and heavyhaulerss Thank this. -
Just get a fuel card or a credit card or do like i do and use my debit card which at most small stop will give you the cash price and stay away from the big truck stops. Yesterday i bought fuel for $4.199 credit price at a small shell truck stop in Ct while the major truck stop 5 exits down was $4.449 credit $4.399 cash so even if you get $.10 a gallon of the cash price you would still be paying more and for what. I here alot of guys say well i get a free shower. 95% of the small stops i go to have showers to for free when you buy fuel plus the free coffe or soft drink.
