Sure some got this info, but figured I would throw it out there for those who do not know. Dynasys is recalling ALL apu's.

well that's gonna hurt sales a bit......
Lilbit Thanks this. -
You got that right, because I WAS going to call them, I will wait to see what comes of this now.RedForeman Thanks this.

Any clue what they run in price? I am "partial" to the Tri-pac because that's what I bought on my truck. As much for "nation wide" service through ThermoKing as anything.
Just had my Espar bunk heater replaced for $830 installed. You need to have a computer to be able to hook up to it to diagnose the silly thing. -
Last I checked they were $7600, or $8500 with shore power option, both prices installation included.

You and me both Oscar. Guess when we get around to it, we'll get the upgraded model!
That's about the price I was seeing here and there.. about one or two thousand less than the big names. -
Yep,and everyone that I have talked to that has one is very satisfied.

Not sure which "system" would be better.
The tripac is inverter based and the dynapac is generator based.
I am frustrated with my tripac and the idea of a generator head makes sense to me. I put a new set of Group 31 starting batteries in the truck this week and I now wished I had put in a set of those hybrid starting/deep cycle batteries instead.
But how do they power stuff when the genset is powered down? -
From studying the sales materials, you don't. That is, unless you have a separate, battery powered inverter. The Dynasys literature points out isolation from the truck and no inverter system as being a "feature." Then it seems to work like the tripac, depending on a low voltage triggered startup to keep the batteries from getting flat.
Just looking at the different options on the market, it seems the market leaders have greater cost due to better integration into the truck systems in general. Consider the cost of a high current inverter and isolation switching, and it's easy to see where the discount comes from on a Dynasys or other off-brand apu.
I think, other than the need for hybrid or deep cycle batteries, it comes down to whether you care about a genset running continuous when not providing climate control, or cycling with battery capacity.
After dumping a ton of money inframing my son's truck, I'm now getting serious about equipping it with an apu. I'm in the process of trading mine (enough reasons for a separate thread LOL) and it's replacement has a tripak already on it. -
Thanks,.....
Time to rethink the battery spec then.
