You'll just get pulled over more often at the weigh stations and they try to find something wrong. Just keep your permits, truck and trailer in top condition and have all the paper work up to date and you'll be fine.
The main problem with all these big trucking companies is: They do not want to pay you what you are worth so below are the problems they have. They talk safety but it's all talk. If you want your company to be safe you need to retain your seasoned drivers. With that said you need to reach down in your pockets and cough up some of the profits and spread them around so drivers will stay. A safe and good driver will improve the profits for a company, it will bring down the CSA scores, it will promote the moral of a company, etc... So a driver who can not live on slave wages will go to another company who understands this.Side Box, mje, sedain and 1 other person Thank this. -
We saw several small trucking companies who had to really close or cut back during 2008-2009 when the economy really started to get bad then. Some had I guess a decent way to keep their employees running before that and served their customers well, but you know greed and companies outbidding each other and lowering the rates will drive out small places real fast.

Werner is trying very hard with the equipment. In the last year they have started having mechanics come to the dropyards and inspect every trailer. Every 60 days the tractors go to a Petro or TA for a inspection. And I do see improvement in the trailers, far fewer flat tires, for example.
Werner's present concern is speeding tickets. The latest over the Qualcomm is that a driver will most likely get fired for a speeding ticket. They're also in the process of turning all the trucks down to 62mph.mje Thanks this. -
Turning trucks down its ok but most of.the speeding tickets they get are off the highways where drivers like to play with fire by going just a lil too fast and they get burned

First of all the real outlaw trucking outfit that CSA was ment to shut down get stopped all the time and mix a few $100 bills hidden in the paperwork and get clean inspections out of it well it's easy to meet quotas picking on anyone working for a big company because nobody will help those drivers and they can't afford to stand up for themselves and the company will shuve then under the bus in a heartbeat. The independent drivers that are still making money and running art work instead of a logbook pay off the dot because they can afford to do business like that when they make 4 times more likely then a $14 an hour dot officer when all is said and done.

It is a shame that there is graft going on. I guess this goes along with the image of a company and who it hires. If you hire just anyone and don't care what kind of driver you have, then you are going to see more problems with dangerous trucks and drivers.
