ta shoulda been too embarrassed by the place to buy in in the first place. was a private owned t/s that ta bought out, and theyve never done a dam thing to it other than add the restaurant. i live in binghamton (not that i like to admit), and wouldnt stop there on a bet. the loves (used to be pilot) is a block away and decent, if small. the ta is not even paved. i generally prefer ta to other chains (except petro), but ours certainly doesnt do the ta brand any favors by bearing their logo.

and thank you, op, for speaking out to that other driver. fewer and fewer out here that will look out for the other guy...always refreshing to see another stand up driver out there. karma owes you one!

Well, maybe I need to slow down so Karma can catch up! :)

I didn't post that wanting recognition. It was simply to reinforce how easy it is for someone to coax us out of our trucks. Also that by observing the "coax-er" actions it confirmed in my mind, that they were up to no good.

you all be safe out there, and watch out for each other.

My home crib is about an hour and a half south of Memphis. I know all too well what pimps in Memphis are selling. My ex wife is from Memphis. The last thing I want from Memphis is another woman that's gonna cost me money

I thank God for divine protection, because they're have been many times where I have walked in the dark between trucks taking shortcuts and not thinking about it. I thank you for posting this vital information so that I now can be more aware of my surroundings. I haven't been approached yet, but I know to use wisdom in certain situations. I know one thing I am going to pray more and keep a blade on me.

Matt- just be careful. There's a lot of bad folks out there that have no problem taking whatever you might have and hurting you in he process. Just use common sense. If someone asks you what you have in the back just tell them 20,000 lbs of mop handles.

By the way- the Lot Lizards are working the parking lot this evening at the Flying Jimmy in Jackson, Mississippi off I 20. I've been here for 20 minutes and have had two wave at me from he front of the truck! The second one looked like someone I went to high school with.

I've been using a lock on empty's... a hassle? nah... just don't want to discover any surprises. My rig does bounce around and makes some noise when settling after awhile parked, I'm one of those that would use the air horn to draw attention if I felt the need and had the chance. Also I wouldn't follow anyone anyway especially someone that walked up like that.

it's good the driver listened to you

Something similar happened to me, some guy laughing saying another driver just won a few million in the lottery, come talk to him. I didn't fall for it, but some did. The guy that supposedly won the lottery didn't have enough money to get to the lottery office in another state and needed money for plane fare. Saw the same guy that came to my truck, driving a carnival truck the next day.

I have seen this one and did get out of my truck (but locked it... defeating the purpose of the scam). The guy was handing out $100 bills while playing your 3 card monty scam but I wouldn't pull any money out of the ATM and one guy handed me one of his $100 bills to try to lure me in but the guy handing out the money stopped and said, "it's got to be your money, not his" and my red flag went up.

It happened at the Pilot located off exit 40 in Milford, CT. I don't know how many guys got scammed but I did warn a couple of them on my way back to my truck. The word spread quickly and they left.

That is perhaps one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum... 'gets what they deserve'?...

No-one deserves to be accosted when they are unaware of the activities of a 'safe haven' they are not familiar with.

No-one deserves to be unsafe within their surroundings in a country where a 2nd Amendment deters criminals from approaching what might be an armed law-abiding citizen.

No-one can rely on police protection when in many cases, the only difference between the police and the common criminal is that the police have a company car.

No-one is going to tell me that I can count on anyone but myself to defend myself in the event that I unknowingly 'wander' into one of your Democrat controlled cities (all but one of the top ten high crime cities according to the FBI statistics is run by a Democrat Mayor)... guess who's the Mayor of Memphis? A C Wharton, Jr. a Tennessee Democrat politician

    I'm done.
