Trican, sanjel, slumberger, are some of the companies that can get you a class 1 licence along with all your tickets. In exchange, you will have to sign a contract for set period to work off your debt to them. I heard it was a year at Trican. If you leave before that time they charge you for the remainder of the money owed.

Well, I just send out a massive flood of emails with the details on what I am looking for, what I need and what they'll get out of it. I got one email back from a company called Canadian deWatering telling me for insurance purposes they can't hire me unless I have 3 years experience for whatever reason but to contact them again in 3 years..haha.

If Trican or any company could actually provide me the training like that if I were to sign a contract I would jump on that like a bat out of hell. That's essentially what I was looking for the first time around but only provided me schools in the states none in Canada so that's why I went the government route because I was laid off from a $27/hr job and am now making $12.25/hr working with 18 year olds right out of highschool to obese women who wear mexican-patterned ponchos . I was laid off a few years ago and apparently within a 3 year time frame I am still eligible for training if I jump through a dozen loop holes and red tape but it's looking pretty grim. When I first paid for the courses out of pocket it seemed I was the only schmuck there who was paying for it with his own money, everyone else there said EI or their company was paying for it and there I was struggling to scrounge up money to even sit in that class.

But thanks for the information about those companies, would it be better to email them or call them because I know some companies don't like it when you call in for job related inquiries and is there any specific people that I should talk to or just a generic call and asking 'who can I talk to' will suffice?

    I appreciate all the responses.

I can only speak about Trican, I would contact them by phone. The e-mails go to the recruiting office in Calgary and can/will be lost in the shuffle. If one shop can't help you call another one. All driver training goes through red deer or grande prairie. If you want to make better money, stay away from the cement crews. They are in the lower end of the pay scale compared to frac, nitrogen crews.

150 million dollars in new equipment sitting there all fenced in. Was for a new base in Texas, but times are slow there right now so it's put on hold.

We must keep the trucks clean and parked in an orderly fashion.

It does look good driving by though.
