Next time I buy truck batteries I'm going with deep cycle. If my new-to-me truck doesn't come with them, I'll probably put in a set of Optima yellow-tops and recycle the starting batteries into my reefers or sell them to my son's car club buds, where they'll end up in the trunk of a lowrider juicing a hydraulic setup.

I bought Napa Legend Group 31 starting batteries. I wish I had held out for Hybrid AGM's at the least.
Having an APU on the truck really makes a guy look at things differently. -
I've had a Dynasys on my truck for 10 months now and I'm very happy with it.
It uses the same engine as the Tripak and you can buy parts and filters from their dealers if you want to.
The 6000 watt generator runs my microwave better than any inverter I've ever had.
They had to remove my 5000 watt inverter to make room under my bed for their unit so now I just have a
small 400 watt Cobra direct wired to my batteries to run my Edgestar cooler style fridge/freezer, TV, Satellite Receiver, CPAP Machine, Cell Phone charger and Computer and it has no trouble running all at the same time.
So the only time I have to run my Dynasys is if I need to make coffee, toast or need heat, a/c or battery charging.
It will start and stop automatically based on your settings for temperature, battery charging, engine heating (by block heater) etc.RedForeman Thanks this. -
I have yet to find negative reviews on the Dynasys other than my own. Since day 1 (July 2012) I have had problems with the thermostat and control unit not working right. Example: If I set the temp to say 72* the heater/ac will not stop automatically it will keep heating or cooling until I wake up sweating or freezing. I am very disappointed in Dynasys that they still will not release details on the recall and what the possible safety hazard may be. We are supposed to disconnect it and wait for more info to be released which was supposed to happen yesterday. I first learned of the recall 8 days ago when contacted by them...

Update:
Recall Repair Status
We have made the following progress since our previous communication:
- Identified a repair solution, including replacement part requirements
- Identified and determined sourcing for required replacement parts
We anticipate all recall repair instructions will be complete and initial parts shipments will be
available to dealers beginning on Monday, February 11, 2013. Hodyon will then notify affected
Dynasys customers of recall repair handling details and dealers can begin scheduling customers
for recall completion.
Dynasys customer service will assist as required in scheduling recall repairs, with the main goal
of minimizing vehicle downtime and owner inconvenience.
Next Steps
We anticipate the next communication you receive from Hodyon will be the final recall
completion instructions, and plan to have that in the mail prior to Monday, February 11, 2013.
Additionally, we plan to issue future updates as available via our web site
(http://www.hodyon.com/) and our Facebook home page (https://www.facebook.com/Dynasys),
so we recommend you check these web sites regularly for updates
So now a whole month or more, during the coldest part of the year, without being able to use the APU
-
Not exactly the time table I was hoping for but at least they have a fix.
-
I will say that their tech support is pretty good and they are open 24/7. However, I'm both confused and disappointed in the fact that they are not sharing any details about the problem.

All I could get out of the lady from customer service that called me was that it was a "thermal issue" and something could overheat and cause "a spark". She wouldn't answer when I asked if she meant fire.
