Wonder what the story was on this one. Sounds like the driver wasn't injured at least.

we had a couple of trailers burn up a warehouse i worked at, didn't take em long, later it was said someone had flicked a cigarette in one of em. i can understand the trailers cause of all the wood flooring and walls in them but that truck... wow! that sucker burned to the ground, guess i never thought of the things inside and out that could've added to that burning. probably had a full tanks and i'm sure that trailer went all the way to; soon as i reached that tank.

WOW :biggrin_25524: where was the fire department? I wonder if it was caused by an inverter. I've heard those power inverterscan torch a truck if they aren't done right. hope everyone was okay.

The "Big Radios" can cause truck fires also. The construction company I worked for prior to doing mega carrier dry van lost a truck that way. Any time you have to run a bunch of wiring to battery terminals you run a risk of fire. You also have the problem of extra heat generated with all components of over powered radios. Many drivers just don't seem to understand these things.

As far as cigarettes in the trailer goes, if tossed cigarettes can cause that kind of inferno then I guess conditions must have been just right. I've actually pulled off of docks before after lumpers have been at work and found tons of cigarette butts in the trailer that I had to clean out when I swept. Never had a fire yet though.

Nothing better than "stupid truck driver" commentary via the child's band radio.

If the wires are properly sized, connected and fused there is no more danger of fire than any other electrical device.
