White smoke = unburned fuel. Could be low compression or one or more leaking injectors putting excess fuel into the engine.rebel127 Thanks this.
-
Yup most likely one of your injectors are relieving the pressure through the tips when you shut it down. Then when you start it, it will smoke a lot and run rough.
-
If you had your injectors "done" I am guessing they were rebuilt by someone? The fuel injection quantity is probably slightly different than the calibration files stored in the ECM.
-
Although if its only when cold it might not be an issue. A cold engine/cylinder cannot burn all the injected fuel properly thats why most diesel will run rough when first started cold. Happens to both electronic and mechanical diesel although its not suppose to be as mad on electronics cause they're suppose to have a cold mode start.

Well I'm glad I spent $2100 on a genuine reliabilt 6 pack last month. Sorry to hijack OP.

Looks like everyone beat me to it but mostly I ask to see if its leaking down into the cyl.
-
Should see raw fuel then in an oil analysis.

Just for future planning, if it is an injector, where would be the best place to get it. Detroit or any place online good. Money is tight and need quality for a good price?
-
As you can see I bought mine from Detroit and am having issues, so who knows. I only paid $250 for a local shop to install them, which is super cheap, but looks like I'll spend more getting mine diagnosed and the faulty injector swapped, although the injector itself is under warranty.
