Schneider, Roehl, FFE, Swift, Stevens.. HELP!!

I frequent this site for answers about my many questions as I'm embarking on this new journey as well. Good Luck!

 

I looked at the same companies. But I did not want OTR I wanted local. If you go with an OTR you will be gone at least two months at a time and you will have to stay for a year or pay back way more than school costs on your own. I looked into the local community colleges and all of them had truck driving schools. They are local and deal with local companies. If you want to work local then I say look at the websites of any colleg near you. Go to their site and put truck or cdl in their search function. Call them up and ask about scholarships and grants. I found a local college that had grants available so school will cost me $250. I will have six weeks of driving tankers in the area I want to work. They know the companies and the companies know the school. I will walk out with a local job and be home every day.

 

i work for ffe and have been real happy here , been here a year and owner operator and my profit was 70k for that year but i know how the company works and have to use my brain , nobody holds my hand they just tell me where and when and i get it done it takes a while to get that far and they know i will do my job, if you do your job and listen to what they tell you --- you should not have a problem making 40k right out of the gate --- the school is top notch and most of the trainers are good they thin them out constantly , sometimes i dont like what the higher ups say but i have never been outright lied too --- theres more to this than just the driving too and i think thats where most people get off on the wrong foot your not going to learn that from any school -- hopefully you get a good trainer that can show you how to manage your time to make money --- also before you decide on a company check out there csa scores that will give you an indication on what kind of company they are . so far ffe has worked out really good for me , i really havent heard much bad about stevens either and as far as swift or cr england go just check around this site a bit and you wont be asking about them any more
