This guy is killing me. It's time to go and I ask "do you know where we are going?" "Yes, Yes Stockton, ca" the load delivers in Tacoma. I ask "why are we going to Stockton?" "To get load" me "what are we going to do with all the product in the trailer?" Blank stare. "You do know we are loaded right???" I then had to go on to explain that we have not made it to the receiver yet. Apparently he thought that because we stayed the night at a truck stop that we had delivered the load there. Crazy
Ice Train Thanks this. -

I have a girlfriend who has been driving for 14 years. Single gal. She stays out there for LONG periods of time ... Says she doesn't mind because she LOVES IT. She hasn't been home since October.

don't know bout you brutha, but i like to go home at least twice a week.GypseeWind Thanks this.

Kinda sorta. If you let the recruiter know and the trainer is cool with it. They will try, but it is typically reserved for a
husband training a wife, parent/child, or if the trainer wanted to hire and train their codriver.
It is a bit of a pain in the butt to coordinate all that if the trainer is an active trainer, or student mill (like me) I take my students in on Tue upgrade them and leave on Wed with a new student. I don't always know if they are going to need 4,5 or 6 weeks so to coordinate that with 2 weeks of school is kinda hard.
My recommendation, take who you get, ask a lot of questions, and get your workbook done early so you can start applying the lessons in it.Punky74 Thanks this. -
My entertainment through OTR training was my trainers stories of his last student. They sounded about like that. I could hardly believe him when he told me [name] couldn't find his way to kfsto by week 4.
The nearly changing lanes or off-tracking into people stories were less entertaining, more shocking. -
Well, if your still training when I head to Central in July, I might just ask for you as a trainer. I'm terrified of getting a crappy trainer. I'm a hard worker and I have common sense and listen to instruction well. I want to be trained properly and it seems as though you are a good trainer from what I have read. I totally understand though how logistically I may just have to take whoever they give me. Guess, I'll just crops that bridge when I get to it. Lol

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm just a guy driving a truck who likes to talk to people. There are trainers at Central who have been training longer than I have been driving, and I mean longer than I have been driving a car. You don't want to settle on me when you could get one of those great trainers I hope to be like some day. When you get a little closer PM me and we can see what we can work out. But I think you would be better off expanding your resources. You can already pick my, and many others, brains here, why not get another helper. If you do get a "bad" trainer talk to us here and if needed call Central and get a new trainer.
Hope that helpsPunky74, Lady K and GypseeWind Thank this.
