    Hello all.
Today i have started my first day of "Refresher" training with Raider Express in Fort Worth, TX.
I will blog here everyday to tell you how Raider Express "Refresher Course" is going.

    Class starts at 7am.

Only 3 of us in the class room.

The class room instructor Doug is a very knowledgable guy when it comes to "Pre Tripping Your Route" He has a lot of patients and will go over what you don't understand as many times as he needs to. He wants you to go out there and understand "routing". He went over all this routes and the road atlas and how to figure out your mileage, etc.

Then after lunch went out with the driver teacher, I believe his name is Earl, and he is an exellent instructor, very patient and explains everything to you. If you keep doing the wrong thing he will have you stop and he will draw out what you are doing wrong and what you should be doing, he will also get behind the wheel and show you how it's done. Taught us 3 guys how to shift and how to take turns. Of course there will always be at least 1 person that will not catch on very fast, but he was very patient with this one student.

I will post tomorrow about tomorrow's training. If anyone has question just ask and I will get an answer for you.

On the sheet they used to give it would have the mileage you would get paid. If there was a shorter route to save time I would take it. Shortest route possible. Ex...if that sheet said 600 miles and I could get there in 575 miles that's the way I would go.

Ok so this morning was a little bit more talking about tripping with Doug. Then I had to do the DOT physical. Then after lunch went out in the truck with Earl. Drove around did more turns, then started the backing into a tight spot while starting the truck out on an angle, that's a little bit tough. I have to get use to the fact the steering is opposite. I still have no complaints, very good instructors and trainer.

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Oh and the truck instructor his name isn't Earl sorry, it's Robert. So things went really good, last Saturday Jan. 26th 2013 we went to Loves on 114 in Rhome, TX to do more backing and parking. Couple of us did pretty good and couple need another week or so of training. I didn't go to training Monday do to being sick, I went in Tuesday and they sent me over to orientation. Did my 2nd drug test which this one is for Raider Express the 1st one was from Continental Trucking School. So 4 of us sat in oriantation for 1/2 a day. Now I am just waiting on a phone call from a Raider Express OTR trainer. Once they find me a OTR Trainer I will be out OTR for up to 28 days. Hopefully after 2 weeks I can come home for a couple days, if not oh well. So after my 28 days of training I will be assigned my own truck, more likely will be a 2007 Freightliner or a 2007 International. Then after 90 days of driving solo if I have a clean record I will get put into a new Volvo. I will start a new post once I am set up with a OTR Trainer. So anyone looking for training go to Raider Express, I have no negitive things to say about the class instructors or the truck instructor. Give them a call Phone number deleted
