If I go to the 2-3-1 then most likely I will build a glider and do it right.
-
Very wise decision in my book.
Just beware that with the weight of the truck at that point, you will spend a LOT of time sitting around. Thats part of the reason I sold my 4 axle KW, nobody wanted to pay what it needed to run down the road empty, never mind loaded!
There is good money to be made for sure, but the freight HAS to be there to keep you rolling. If the guy is going to max out a 60t trailer for the most part, you need the truck to do it right.
Twin steering boxes, double framed, 2 speed fully locking rears, heavy duty driveline, and so on.
Your truck has the power to move that kind of weight, but the rear ratio would be a limiting factor to me. You could always give it a try, and swap out the rears for another ratio that is more HH friendly, before dropping over $200k on a new rig.

A lot to think about in the next year specially with the CA emissions bs and port restrictions.
-
Forgot about the ports, I used to haul out of LB and LA ports pretty regular with the big trailer. That was before their emission crap though.
If Ports are in your future, then maybe a glider isn't for you if they check the emission label on the motor! Could always peruse a junkyard and "find" a label on the ground though I guess....

I have a Cat man in Lancaster,CA that can build the glider plus put an emission system on that is more reliable than a factory system and its port compliant. Plus much less restrictive. Ports are a major part of what I will be doing with the tralier. As of right now I have to pay sombody to fetch my loads and bring them out to a meeting spot.

I could put a hydraulic pump on this truck and get an exempt sticker thats good till 2020 but I dont want to.
-
A hydraulic pump on the truck can do that? Hmmm ok then. Makes no more sense than anything else that goes on out there I guess

I know guys who have put pumps on mid 90's trucks that are not even plumbed properly(just for show) and they have an exempt sticker. Typical government system there is always a loop hole.

Thats just for the ports though right?
