One driver told me he went into the Air Force in 1958 as an E-1 and got out 4 years later as an E-9.
Another one, wearing a Navy Seal shirt, was telling me war stories of Vietnam. The ranks he said he achieved in the Navy happened to be Army ranks.
One time I was in a bar in Hong Kong, during the Vietnam War, and a sailor I know came in and said he just got through partying with some Viet Cong in a bar in Kowloon & they were in full military uniform with red bandanas and that's why Kowloon is off limits because the enemy does their R&R there. He's probably a trucker now. The real reason Kowloon was off limits was the massage parlors & opiates, but Hong Kong was just as good if you knew where to look.

Where to begin....
Too many too list! As a driver over the road you are going to see stuff every single day! Some normal, some not so normal! Lots of accidents, freaks and general crazy mishaps! Your first week out will probably be very interesting.
Have fun out there....Sillen, FloTheWaitress and Leftlane101 Thank this. -
From the other side, we were waiting for a flatbed HVAC shipment in Duluth, Georgia. We had a crane standing by to pick the load and place it on the roof of a new store and had the truck scheduled at about 10AM. The truck was late, so after a half hour or so we had our office start tracking it down. After quite a bit of time, they got the driver on the line and were trying to give him directions. Nothing our people said made sense to the driver- none of the landmarks were familiar. After a little back and forth, we finally realized the truck was in Duluth, Minnesota- 1,200 miles away from the correct destination. Be sure to read the paperwork, people, and save yourselves some serious hassle.
