it kills me, all of you solo drivers out there have to shut down every night or day for 10 hours, so your telling me that you need to use baby wipes and and such to clean up ..... hmn... don't you get a free shower ever time you fuel, if you run 500 miles a day you will surely need fuel.... fuel == a free shower from ta, pilot, petro, loves, amsbest, bosslemans pilot, roadrangers and many more of the local mom and pop truck stops.

even if you are cheating the heck out of your book and running like a maniac, you still have time to shower.

i think it comes down to lazyness.

like i said you have to shut down sometime, even tarping or not tarping, at the end of the night or the end of the shift take a show, yeah sure you gotta tarp again in 2 hours, ok, so at the end of the day take a quick shower.

  4. Mark,
We had unexpected company drop by and after supper , I set the plates on the floor and my dogs licked them spotless.
I then placed them in the cupboard, while the unexpected company watched.
I don't expect the unexpected company back for supper. :):)

ps: In the dishwasher went those dirty dishes and my water temp is major hot here at this house.
I could live off of the land, but one thing I would realllllly need is HOT WATER for shower's and soaking in a tub.
I to have been in a pickle a time or two in my life and do what ever it takes (within morals) to get clean and not stinky, Oh and perfume to much is the worst.

  5. I think your b***hing:biggrin_25513:and thats enough.

sometimes lazyness is far from the reason why a person does not take a shower.

I try and stop for a shower every other days. I pull a dry van, don't have to worry about getting all hot and bothered tarping.

I do not run truckstop to truckstop, I hate trucks stops. I always try to spend the night at the shipper or receiver. If I must stop before getting to a shipper or receiver I look for an alternate place to stop, like a walmart.

I only fuel up after 700 miles or more, for me I get 1 1/2 day on a tank for fuel.

Well; how else can I clean head to toe?:biggrin_2559: Some of my unloads to loads are a couple hours away. Would not do me any good to shower and be dirty 2 hours later. That is when I clean up in the truck and change clothes. It will hold me over till I can get to a shower. That one poster on here seems to think we got time to stop and draw a bubble bath every 300 miles!:biggrin_2554:

Not exactly (laziness), unless you consider the LAZINESS of the people whose job it is to clean the showers between use. Many times, the only thing they do is empty the garbage and place new "soap" on the sink. I can't count how many times the showers were still dirty from the previous driver and the number of times I have got foot fungus off the floor. I would rather "shower" by using Baby Wipes, and changing (undies) every day and outer clothes every other day. If I need more than that, I might take a shower in a truckstop. but as a rule, they are too dirty.

Dang!!! And I was planning on a nice hot bubble bath everyday. You know with candles and a glass of wine, maybe a good book. Calgon....Take me away!!!! Maybe it's time for those "Trick my Truck" guys to come up with a bed and bath sleeper.

One of the best things I found for traveling when you can't shower, is Dr. Bonners Peppermint Soap. You can put a couple of dashes in some water in a pan with a washcloth. Clean yourself from head to toe and towel off. No rinsing required with this stuff. Cleans you up real nice. It sure beats staying "funky" for the rest of the trip. I use it in the shower. Good for hair, body and shaving. Try it. Sometimes you have to get it at a healthfood store, but alot of drug stores and supermarkets have it now.
